RB,
With respect, the only thing you've proved this afternoon is your own prejudice. It's like a straw man factory in here. -
However he has apparently made threatening statements in the past. For example
Omar says he is passionate about writing and a regular correspondent to the media "whenever something really ticks me off".
Steven, there is absolutely nothing in either that quote or the linked page that could be considered threatening.

Whoa – totally right,
You sound surprised. ;)

re: Having faith in the justice system.
Sadly, I don't, much. I've been involved in two trials in my time; one where I was on a minor charge, another where a friend was.
In both cases officers of the Police lied to the court - I know, because I was, in each case, present at both the incident from which the charge arose and the trial - and in both cases the judge accepted the (uncorroborated) police version of events without question.
I'm not trying to draw any particular connection with the current cases but that's my experience, so make of it what you will.

Hex has played before (series 1, I presume), on TV2 at about 1.00am on a weeknight.
-
Thanks for clearing that up, Graeme.

Shouldn't mental health services, rather than the Police, be dealing with this Lockett fellow?
-
The facts, when the come out, will be important: what if anything was planned in Tame's wananga?
and if the answer is not "nothing", how long before the phrase "state-sponsored terrorism" appears?
But seriously,
What recourse does anyone have for getting their group de-listed as a terrorist organisation?
One more: So, it's not terrorism if one "unduly compel[s] or to force[s] a domestic organisation to do or abstain from doing any act"?

Clearly any threat to harm George Bush has little meaning now that he's not coming here.
Clearly. I'm questioning whether there ever was a credible threat.
-
That visit was cancelled months ago. The threat can only be considered credible if it occured before that, so why are they acting on it only now?
The inside word I got over the weekend was that the Commissioner had decided to act because 'issues had come to a head'.
Really, that doesn't address my question at all.
