I love those Railways Studios posters ! Letham gallery had an exhibition a while back with some of the better ones, fantastic.
This is not bad as a reference either, a little wider than just the tourism posters.

A favourite of mine are those 50's/60's Dental health posters from the school murder house. I'd love to get hold of one of the healthy kiwi ones made up of fruit and vegetables.

Assuming for a moment the acquittal had been post 26 June 2008, and the limited circumstances had been met (new evidence etc.) would it even be possible for him to have a fair (re)trial now the coroner has basically come out and said he is culpable ?

Only against League tables really, not National Standards per se ?

This discussion has taken a Pythonesque turn ;-)
They were gotten up, every morning of the year, to swim in the cold pool
.. walked 20 miles to school, barefoot, uphill, both ways

they can afford the best teachers
But you can't pay the best teachers more, they're all paid according to a pay scale that's based largely on qualifications I believe. Allowances for responsibilities are on top I think.
Someone more informed than me might be able to elaborate.

Absolutely, don't get me wrong I think the zoning system combined with the decile funding approach is fair. I can't think of a better approach anyway.
The downside of the zoning system is you can't get in if you're out of zone, the upside is the school must accept your children if they're in zone.
It's just I disagree with your view that people have a choice from a selection of schools, except of course by moving home.

Not sure I agree Russell, read Whoop's comment again, he/she had to move. The 4 nearby schools mentioned had no out of zone enrolments. I doubt very much the zones of those 4 schools overlapped.
The current experience in the inner west schools is not isolated either, I know the same issues exist out west in Titrangi/Green Bay/Glen Eden and I understand Te Atatu has similar issues emerging.
If you exclude faith based schools from your list of options because of your beliefs (or lack thereof) your choices are further limited as well.

These choices are really important for some of us.
Your experience is somewhat out of date now though, those schools you mention with the addition of Pt Chev to the list have enrolment zones with very, very few out of zone enrolments.
The net effect is you have no choice, except to move home and that's I guess where the "afford" comment comes from.

Hard News: Where do you get yours? (Food…, in reply to
Yes, the branding opportunities are endless, "I love Whoopie" would be the first t-shirt I'd be getting printed up.

Next time you cut through Hakanoa on your bike you should treat yourself to a Whoopie Pie and also give the Grey Lynn Butcher a shot sometime, we're spoilt for carnivorous choice in these parts.
