The initial report/publication/TV program is what sticks in the mind:
More violence in schools
ACC in serious trouble from incompetent operations
Hosptial dangerous foul-ups worse than ever
Labour Goverment tired and without fresh ideasAny "correction" is already lost in the noise. So the answer lies with Media 7 or Media watch, thank goodness!

Great post David. I wonder if one of John Key's long term aims was to become a SIR? So re-store the title now ready??
-
Welcome home. I wonder if Bob will get restless after a few days and pack his toybag and start singing:
"I'm Beauregard from Dixie! Hooray! Hooray!" -
And Stuart, how accountible is a privately run prison and would Judith Collins be seeking reassurance that all was well- publicly?
-
But the most interesting thing about the profile is the contrast between John Key's posture in it, and the face he presents to the New Zealand public. He does seem to have a habit of telling everyone what they want to hear.
I wondered about that as well. Usually the MSM pounce on contradictions especially from a PM but most of the people I ask have noticed nothing incongruous. Huh?

I believe that a big business, BP World I think, have reorganised their system so that each unit has no more than 100 on the staff. Each Ceo in charge of that unit is responsible for everything except the general BP overarching policy. The idea is that the buck stops here. The Ceo knows the name and face of the one he is about to sack. All this according to Charles Handy.
Then on reading the excellent post from ? it sounds like a hopeless case of Yes Minister. The remedy? Um. -
Maybe when writing about our own kids we could fictionalise them, or change their name?? But if the anecdote is sympathetic maybe its OK. I read Leo's words with great interest and respect. He has added to the sum of my thoughts.

I suppose "spiritual" is in the eye of the beholder. But to me it is the pleasure usually, one gets from a starry night or a kiss, or wax-eye tring to retrieve a fallen nestling and so on, and refusing to believe that a being has organised it all. Therefore Emma's :"A friend of mine put it like this: atheism is not a religious belief any more than not collecting stamps is a hobby." means that my spiritualism is not connecting to a god. I think I know what I mean???

When my son was about 8 he was invited to a Saturday afternoon party. About 30 minutes later he arrived home. Why?
He said, "We were shown a room full of party food. Then we were ushered into an adjoining room and the man said that you can join the party only if you give yourself to Jesus. One by one the other kids went in to party until only J was left. He refused to "surrender" and eventually walked out and came home." I don't know where J's position came from, but I felt proud of him and furious with the nasty people who had run the "party". -
Billie Connoly tells of his strategy. " When they knock at my door, I shout out that I have a huge erection and in 5 seconds I am going to open the door! 5, 4, 3, ...."
Its the organised churches that bother me. Must be a comfort to many but who needs them to have wonder at the antics of spiders or the shape of lenticular clouds or the cruelty of cancer?
