  • Southerly: At Last, David Haywood's 2010…,

Do authors pay the publisher when their book costs a publisher money becuase it didn't sell very well?

Because lets be honest there are a lot of books out there that don't sell. And who takes the hit, the bookseller? the publishers?

  • Up Front: Staying Civil,

Also, perhaps crafty Wellingtonians are the best people to ask: who makes civil union cards? Somebody must, surely.

    oo that's me
    yippe

so crafty people don;t generally make cards that have a generic anything. it's pretty front blank inside.

that means we don;t have to do whole ranges, but also means we can be equally opportunity sellers, the card fits every occasion.

and in searching etsy all the result gave me civil war rubbish.

Maybe they are planning nudity in the hobbit prequels, maybe prequel 2 will explore sam and frodo's early relationship.

  • Hard News: The GST Punt,

the one thing about GST, it's simple and easy, when you get into exemptions you create a world of mess.

    and loopholes
the true answer is not to raise it in the first place if you are concerned about those who can't afford things

  • Up Front: Something Chronic,

    Hi rosie

I def get some advocacy help
In wellington places like the downtown community ministry and the people's resource center are wonderful
they have staff who are trained up to help you navigate (and if need be navigate for you) the entire winz process.

My mum acts as my advocate and trust me it helps so much to have someone go with you, and who can speak for you. I dread calling winz up so mum does it all for me.

    Jo is right

    Pants are so pants.

in fact i often use pants as my swear word of choice

So what sort of things do people do to plan ahead for fun things -

I find needing to plan ahead with the worst case in mind is sometimes a bit depressing

today my shiny new collapsible walking cane arrived! I'm going on holiday and i do want to see more things than a hotel room, so a cane is essential. But becuase it's a shiny blue one i feel more like a sporty hiking person than a tired person. which made the cane thing less depressing
