If 300,0000 vote NO
150,000 vote YES
700,000 spoil papers
Then the NOES have it 66% to 33% YES
Ha Ha they say. We were right the Smacking Brigade say.
Perhaps a fairly worded question could be polled by Heylen or whoever. -
Durijng the 1947 thing, while the school was closed we were expected to do Correspondence lessons. Ha! The summer days were far too exciting to waste thus. Actually it was called Infantile Paralysis then and the understanding then was that you must keep your head and neck covered against the sun which "gives 'ya infantile pralisis." A bit scary when there was so much summer to spend.

On Newstalk ZB John was reputed to have said that the person making the allegations was the alligator. Indeed. Why not? Makes a great image.

One of Helen's great strengths was a strongly held philosophical base. This meant that she could reference the question immediately to her well thought out beliefs. The answer whether you agree or not, was instant and consistent.
John is harder to nail down as his "pragmatic" approach is full of contradictions. I suspect that like Don Brash, he has to keep seeking answers from advisers often receiving inconsistent texteds . -
From the time my son was about 8 he and I would race to read to be first to read the Listener. At 20 I gave him a subscription to read while away at Varsity. Now 5 years later neither of us bother and subs have lapsed.
The bully tactics used by John Key's advisers, Crosby and Textor, is a bit daunting! Well worth a look.

Yes. Well summed. It must be annoying to have to follow a democratic process if you are a money maker.

In Christchurch my niece went to the pharmacy over some matter. While there an assistant (pharmacist?) offered to test her for zinc deficiency, and waved a "tool" over niece's palm. "Yes!" the assistant said. "you are deficient in zinc. If you take a course in these pills you will feel much better. The pills will only cost $60 per month."
"I will think about it," said Tanya as she walked out the door.
