Damn you Robyn, that's the last time I invite you to my house for a game of Trinominoes, the "game of the year" in Germany in 1987!
That actually was a fairly choice party, but I sucked at Triominoes and felt alienated when everyone else was doing so much better at it.
Oh, but I fondly remember the wedges, Whale Man, and how everyone wrote about it on their LJs upon returning.
-
I'm going to out myself and admit that I haven't been to many parties (especially in recent years), let alone one that was awesome and memorable.
I'm not sure why this has come about, but life isn't all that bad on the Z-list.

Speaking for the people on the interwebs - the Grey Shadow!

The grey shadow ain't goin' nowhere. Oh well.

I've just been over to Gravatar, I've reassociated my image with my email address, done a test there and now I'm hoping that it will all work.

Agency creative is still an issue for me, but perhaps we can be a positive influence there.
I don't like the AA skyscraper ad with the yellow carr whooshing across from side to side. It's distracting when I'm trying to read the main blog post, which is the #1 reason why I'm looking at that webpage.
But the car can be disappeared by making the browse window smaller or dragging the window so the ad is off screen. But I bet the AA wouldn't be happy with either of these solutions.
So, yes, let's get ads working with the vibe of Public Address (much like bFM's legendary ad style).

Y'know, ever since NZ Post cruelly changed Hamilton's postcode from 2000 to 3200, it hasn't quite felt like the same city of the future.

I just found a comment on my LiveJournal from the palm oil guy*!
It was on a post I'd made about my Wii, and he suggested that instead of working up a sweat on my Wii, that I should just healthy palm oil. (No thanks. I'd much rather play my Wii than eat a spoonful of oil. Yech!)
I deleted it and marked it as spam, so hopefully it will help prevent further spamming on LJ.
* It was technically anonymous, so I don't know if it was the same person, but it was written in the same friendly voice as our oily friend above. -
Didn't the Roskill/Eden dry areas go in the same election year? Ah, yes, I think I was wrong, it was the 1999 election, Roskill wasn't an electorate in '96.
Aha - in the 1999 election, the licencing districts of Eden, Roskill and Tawa also had a referendum on "local restoration". Each district voted in favour of local restoration. The terms of this were clarified in a postal vote in 2000, and then a torrent of booze came a-gushin' down Dominion Road.
Fun fact! In googling all this, I discovered that the old WH Tongue undertaker building on the corner of Mt Eden and New North Roads was originally built as a public hotel, but soon after that, the booze ban came into effect, with that corner being right on the boundary, so it had to find another tenant. I'm kinda glad that booze eventually returned to that building.

Isn't Roskill one of the old "dry suburbs" like Mt Eden?
Mt Eden's been moist since 2000. Back when the referendum was held, I'd just moved into a flat in Mt Eden and received the ballot posted to a previous tenant. I made his vote count.
