I like that it's practically impossible to offer any depth or insight into the experience of doing NOS in a NOS lounge after you've just taken a lungful of the stuff. Unless giggling counts as insight.
My favourite part was when the NOS lounge guy said there had been visits from "celebrities". I immediately thought "Christchurch celebrities = rugby players", and then he said rugby players had visited.
Good old Christchurch.

Is it just me or has someone just munted your original blog entry?
It's interesting you mention this. Viewing the Random Play blog entry looks OK for me, but if I go to the Public Address home page, the blog content is squeezed into a narrow column down the right-hand side of the page.
I think it's been like this for the last couple of days.

That Clark liked the Che hagiography certainly diminishes my respect for her.
Oh, come on. You know she only picked that cos she's hot for Gael Garcia Bernal.
As for John Key's choice, Johnny English, that sounds like the choice of a) a man who is too afraid to have an opinion, and b) a man who never goes out.

I like how a visit to tiny li'l Hawaii also marks big ol' Alaska too.
(But what about the carbon footprint?!)
I'd rather do a map for areas of New Zealand. There'd be a lot of red on mine!

Indeed. They [Dawnraid] had three #1 singles and several more Top 10, but that just means they got a lot of radioplay.
A couple of years ago I was trawling through the second-hand bins in Real Groovy's basement (back then they had separated out all the second-hand stuff). I decided to do a quick head count of second-hand NZ music.
I remember there was heaps of Stellar's second album, The Magic Line, but I was most amazed to see maybe a dozen copies of Alphrisk's (one of the lesser-known Deceptikonz) solo CD "The Best Kept Secret" (too well kept, it seems). I didn't even know such an album existed.
All that glitters, etc.

If the results of this study seem obvious, then you've probably never hung out in the Trade Me forums.
Pregnancy weight gain is a given, but some women have trouble dropping it. They may have no idea how to lose weight, and will cling to any old wife's tale they can regarding weight loss.
Given hot many fat mommas there are in America, it's surprising this study wasn't done earlier.

Although the morons who sniped at Bic Runga need to get a life ...
There seemed to be more than a few people who were angry that these musicians had been able to live off their art, and felt that they should actually be doing a "proper job".
As if being a professional musician in New Zealand doesn't involve hours of hard work.

With a couple of friends I used to smoke with at the Wailing Bongo
The Wailing Bongo! OMG! Did you ever call it the Wailing Bong? I did.
OK, back to the books.

These days, it seems a little odd to focus so much on the pride of NZ industry stuff like the oil wells and steel mills and tractors
There are still oil wells and steel mills and tractors around today, but I wonder what elsewould be featured if a similar film was made now (apart from bungee jumping)?
Shots of Peter Jackson behind the camera? Furrow-browed bloggers composing witty retorts?

The article about Dawn Raid's troubles is here.
