I'm not trying to suggest imagination is a perfect substitute for experience.
It seems to me that you've walked into "men imagining how women feel isn't a perfect substitute for their experience", which possibly leads to "men can't be feminists", if your definition of feminism revolves around some decent level of understanding of the status and experiences of women beyond "sympathy and empathy and working to change it" that men can have.

If you imagine something exactly how it actually is, then you have an experience of it. You experience your imaginings, after all.
I think in a lot of experiences that's going to fall apart. I can imagine being raped. If I was shown a reenactment of someone being raped, or shown actual footage of it happening, I would be repulsed and horrified. I might even dream about it, which would feel real at the time and leave me with some after effects.
However I suspect that none of these things are anywhere near the same experience as it actually happening.
(the whole can men be feminists or not discussion bores me silly btw. It's a label, so the definition makes it what it is, surely).

(And FWIW gorse doesn't over-run forests. It's a relatively short-lived pioneer plant that needs lots of light. In fact native forests over-run gorse :)
Sadly once native forests are cleared to grassland, which is what we put considerable effort into doing over the past couple of centuries...
If only native forests spread as fast as gorse however.

Any one of those concerns, if valid, makes the use of any GMO unacceptable.
I think I see a flaw in your logic there.
Farmers buying Monsanto seed are locked in forever, as you can't ever get 100% of last year's seed out of the next crop, so they own it all no matter your contract, and any fool can guess how the pricing works on that.
I think the fact that Monsanto have been, and probably will continue to be, arseholes in several areas, doesn't necessarily make GE all bad. It might make Monsanto's GE seed satan's little pills, but that's all it means.
Thanks to Bart for your posts on this topic. They've been interesting and informative.

A sensible PM (and I'm surprised at Helen) would have insisted that no Minister got a card *and* that all expenses were run past a party/PMs office checker before being officially filed.
You've got to remember that some of these bills run into the thousands, they're paying for ministers and often one or more staff to have meals, taxis, sometimes accommodation, also sometimes they're used to entertain groups.
Ministers shouldn't have to have $30K limits on their personal cards for a fortnight trip overseas and then ask the taxpayer to reimburse. There's nothing wrong with each minister having a card, it's what they use it for and how they account for it that is of issue.

Plus the insistence with doing it live, hence 8 second pauses each way waiting for the feed to come through while everyone looks stupid.
They at least could have done it half an hour earlier and then edited it down. Would have fitted in 50% more talking.

Was surprisingly accurate, nice one Mike.
93 minutes I think you'll find :)

Can't we all just get along? Can't we just accept a diversity of opinion?
My theory is: possibly as feminists? But everyone is also umpteen other things - left/right, young/old, pro-life/pro-choice etc etc. I guess to me the assumption that feminists shouldn't disagree about a hundred things seem strange.
I presume if feminism came to mean "you must get along, despite differing with the other feminists on umpteen things", a whole heap of people would back out?

If the 10-15 years passes and the variety proves to be a disappointment, can these institutions afford to throw all that work away?
You could say that of any science.
