Alright, you've got me on the ears (as it were). I've no blimmin' idea what errings are all about.

I'm not sure if this is how wearing them started, but a pair of dangly earrings does drag the eye downwards, pointing at the cleavage.

Should you require a utilitarian justification, I'm reliably informed that hi-rise stilettos provide a great boost when walking uphill.

Really? I find the exact opposite.

Megan, the shoes, layby.Layby incurs no financial interest, just anticipated joy interest.

Oh, no, I can't do layby. I am of the MUST HAVE IT NOW generation, after all. Except, yeah, if I convince myself to buy them, I completely will.

This year, for the first time, I was able to afford to buy a pair of green Minnie Cooper shoes. They are so beautiful that I can't even handle it. Um, sorry Emma. :)

    jpegs plz.

I'm always impressed how much we learn about these two, and the world they live in, without a word being spoken.

Fantastic. And that is some damn impressive cleavage.

    Oh, and Craig? For :

Pshaw... I'm bored by women who aren't harridans, and if anyone comes near my legs with a blade (let alone the work of Satan known as the wax strip) there will be merry heck to pay.

way back when I was otherwise engaged yesterday, I think I might love you.

Oh, and to answer Cecilia's question, my own take on it (i wouldn't presume to speak for teh wimmin) is this: I have a job and my own money, and therefore I can buy as many damn pairs of impractical shoes as my bank manager will let me. Because I have choices and options and if I choose to waste my money on frivolous things, well, no one can tell me to do anything different. And God help anyone who'd try.

    Perhaps it's about showing status?

"I don't need to be able to walk in these heels, I have a limo"

Here's how it works for me, and this plays into the discussion around advertising as well. Hopefully Emma won't yell at me for talking too much about shoes.

There is currently a pair of shoes in the window of Mi Piaci on Lambton Quay that I am coveting. They're about $300. (Which is nothing on what I could spend if I had the money.)

I am aware that I am being manipulated into wanting them, that Anna Wintour and her ilk have convinced me that 4 inch stilettos are not only beautiful, but necessary, and that perhaps said stilettos are a conspiracy by the patriarchy to keep me constantly off balance. I know that I don't need more shoes, and I definitely don't need more shoes that I will never wear because they are too uncomfortable to walk in, and are completely impractical.

But, regardless, they are beautiful, and are, to me, art. And knowing that I am buying into everything that is wrong with fashion and its surrounding culture isn't going to stop me lusting after them.

You are all quite delightful and I am beginning to wonder if this is actually the internet.

I was just thinking the same thing. Add to that the poetry, and the fact that I'm over on Field Theory talking about basketball, I may never need to visit any other part of the web.

First time I haven't been called a hairy legged harridan for ages. ;)
