I'd suggest free throws, plus the fouled team gets the ball back at the opponent's baseline afterwards.
Kyle, there is a call for this, the intentional, or unsportsmanlike, foul, with exactly the penalty you described. (Except you get the ball at half court.)
The problem with the last 2 minutes is that in a close game - 4 or 5 points, the strategy can work. Rarely, but it happens. Basically, you are looking for the other team to use their possession in as quick a time as possible, so you can get it down your end and score to catch up.
And refs are loathe to call the intentional foul in that situation, the reasoning being, I assume, that it is part of the strategy of the game.
But yeah, when you are down by 15 with 3 minutes to go, drawing out that last gasp is an exercise in futility and it's frustrating to watch.
But in this particular game, going to a full court press, with 3 minutes to go, down by 15 points, was one of a handful of bizarre coaching moves.

I hope I win a bottle of something alcoholic as a prize, which I can drink irresponsibly in public while wearing a low-cut top and high heels.)
I believe Megan and I have the event for you...
Could we add falling down to that list? And giggling and screeching? Isn't that what women do when out on the town?

I'm amazed at the $69 price-tag, Megan.
You know, I didn't even look at that. Mine were, ahem, somewhat more expensive. But thanks!

So not on the local Mi Piaci website then?
Wierd. For some reason that address was not working in my browser until I clicked on your link. But alas, I can not see my beauties on there. Those red Mary Janes though....
Oh, and I think Emma would love the studded knee highs.

Yes, let's go back to talking about shoes. No, Stewart, those aren't the Mi Piaci ones, which I can't find a picture of anywhere. Maybe I will have to buy them and take a photo, so as to demonstrate my point.
But, in lieu of that, these are a carbon copy of my favourite shoes ever.

@ Danielle.
Sigh. Oh well, it was nice while it lasted.

The victim is a member of a society that has demonstrably failed to deal with the rapists unwellness. So how does everyone (including the victim) suddenly get to wash their hands of the actions of the unwell person? Oh, that's right, unwell people can reasonably be expected to behave like well ones, and can be held to the same standards.
So, then how would you have us protect ourselves? Because in that case, covering up isn't going to cut it, nor is not getting drunk. So, we should just stay at home, which Emma has already pointed out to you, isn't any safer? You see why we're frustrated?

... yes, not getting completely off your face, dressing to maximise the likelihood of unwanted attention, then going to places with lots of people who are also guaranteed to be liquored and very likely a few with poor judgement or in poor control of their actions. Don't want to get mugged? Avoid walking down dodgey streets in dodgey neighbourhoods in the middle of the night.
Shit. You are completely right. I'm off home now, to throw out all of my high heels low cut tops and dresses (though that presents a problem, because I am going to have little left to wear) and generally dress like a nun. Or, maybe, fuck it, I should just go join a nunnery. Because, while I am all about taking responsibility for my own safety, as I've mentioned several times already in this thread, the problem isn't just in dark alleys as you seem to assume. The problem is in well lit bars from people who should be expected to behave with decorum and respect, but apparently can't. It comes from old men in ferry terminals and in churches and on the street in daylight.
It's judgement like this: (from the original article)
Outside one of the bars, a strikingly attractive young blond(sic) screeches about unwanted attention from a man inside. With her up-thrust, barely-clad breasts and short skintight dress, might she be the author of her own difficulties?
What we shouldn't have to do is constantly say (as Deborah did upthread) is that the only thing there needs to be for a rape to happen is a rapist. What the victim is wearing/doing/drinking is irrelevant.
Of course we don't live in a safe, utopian society. No one is advocating absconding from personal responsibility. What we are complaining about it the implication that by having breasts, and daring to show them we are inviting harrasment.

There were island drums set up along the baseline and they played almost constantly.
Apparently they were told to stop drumming during free throws. And whoever did that has never seen a game in the US.

What happens when your wear fashions from 10 years ago is that you communicate to the pack that you are older and more experienced and hence "wiser".
Or that you are fashion forward, given how cyclical fashion is. The eighties are in again...shudder.
And, just for you, my current obsession.
