  • Cracker: See More on 3,

    Nice bit of googling Haydn,
Its weird but I can still remember that day I first saw it, it was cold and raining. The coverage at the time included film of a multiple plane airstrike and several other photos with dead-ish looking people lying around what looked like village remnants. From memory My Lai and those photos were several months after.
A coming of age thing but this was the year I worked out what MAD really meant and later that year I participated in my first protest march around central Christchurch. We really thought we could ban the bomb by chanting.

  • Cracker: See More on 3,

I heard one of the most amazing interviews, ever, of the girl in the photo, Kim Phuc, I think her name was (she now lives in Canada.) She was still having plastic surgery into her early 20's, the napalm had burnt all the way to her internal organs.
On air live, she met the pilot of the F4 phantom who dropped the napalm on her village and wasted her extended family.
She implicitly forgave him, he was weeping and sobbing.

IMHO that was news but did we see it in NZ?

BTW That image significantly seared itself into my child brain and formed part of my character that says "NO" loudly, to wars of colonial oppression.

There is something delicious about seeing a shill shoot themselves in both feet without any assistance and this latest outburst surely firms up which side of the credibility spectrum Ms Codswallop sits on.
I'm very pleased that the ruling is specific and is fair.
Tough it out Debs and let see a comeback off the ropes.........

<>This'd be a TV show well worth watching:

MPs used as live SAS targets

I'd be happy for NZ on Air to shell out a few hundred thousand so we could see how many of 120 shat themselves as live rounds started heading past the head.<>
Kyle you rock, lets get into filming now, man thats hot property, so many people would watch it but I guess itd have to be HDT because of the tomatoes thrown at the screen an stuff.
Does anyone have any goss on the competition the herald is running for the photographer that gets the worst photo of Helen?

  • Hard News: Actually, I've always been…,

It is interesting to me to see how the world perceives New Zealand and our sporting achievements, CNN reported that the team that won the Louis Vuitton cup was called Emirates and the forthcoming cup races would be sailed in Emirates. However, for once, they responded to a call about the accuracy of their reporting and then fixed the line.
Wish they had done that about WMD or Plamegate.
    I digress,
If the current batch of race results from Valencia with Alinghi vs Prada are anything to go by then Dick better get something happening down the waterfront pronto......
hey, we could always throw in an iconic international stadium

For the record, the sponsorship agreement doesnt include racing the AC in Dubai, although I note that Alinghi spent the winter there training because the wind is consistant and the same air temperature as Valencia in the summer.
Yacht racing is fun and any sport is boring if it doesnt click your buttons.
I think that Montgomery is like bad for real sailors but is the interface for folks that dont understand the complexity ( I just wish he did) . On a lighter note did anyone notice how he kept putting his hand on Cameron Dunns leg? and keeps touching John Cutler?

    Ha great post Russell,
Frank and I were boyhood friends through sailing, Id forgotten what he looked like with short hair n all.
I think the way the photographer captured all those blurring lights was just like......
