I might go to Laneway just for Tame Impala and Car Seat Headrest and the odd kid electro surprise. Haven't been for a few years. Lonerism is a great record. A drug record nearly. T.I for sure have their own Aussie interesting nod to '67 thing going on.

  • Legal Beagle: On Gell-Mann Amnesia; or…, in reply to Russell Brown,

You might reasonably be surprised but often a judges sentencing notes particularly in the DC do not make compete sense, and even can seem contradictory in parts. In the HC a sentencing judge has often mostly prewritten their sentencing decn based on written submissions earlier filed by both crown and defence. The judge then tweaks it slightly after hearing Counsels further oral submissions on day of sentence hearing. The decision is then delivered so much more coherent.
In the DC invariably delivered on the hop. The judge will have end sentence very clear in his/her mind, getting there is often a slightly different story.

  • Polity: Poll Soup,

Among Nationals more obvious wealthier support group are this lower middle class block of Nat voters. Almost seems unless economy tanks, affecting that group particularly, National will be returned at next election. Nothing else will change that outcome. I don't think Little or Labour are currently doing a poor messaging job its just that folk seem uninterested politically and so long as they have a job and can meet their grocery rent/mortgage budgets - all good, nothing else in the broader realm is of concern, sigh. Suits National perfectly. That Winston Peters is and likely still will be in the mix is pretty depressing. He's at heart a conservative politician who occasionally throws a spanner in the works out of self interest. But I guess all western democracy's especially those of proportional representation have a similar type weird ideologically barren protest type party there in the end game too.

  • Hard News: Friday Music: Gobshite vs Adele,

Never take anything remotely seriously said by NG. He's good for a couple a lols sometimes. His musics done by done. That said Adele's a bawbag - I'm more of a umo flat Eric kinda guy.

  • Hard News: Friday Music: Not just…,

Streaming is here to stay - to state the obvious. It's incredibly handy and mostly user friendly. Get a paid account with some provider - if you're working and use the free stream option, well that seems a little bleak. I understood pirating had decreased somewhat since the advent of spotify etc. Go to shows - happily pay the ticket price, hell buy the odd tee shirt. Shows are fantastic fun no matter how old you are.
The argument over buying music in whatever format v streaming is over. Horse has bolted. Time to adapt folks.
