Well thanks for that, Paul. The BBC may set their price points to "gouge" but the classic Who releases on DVD are generally worth the overdraft abuse.

all the regenerations:
After the Hartnell/Troughton regeneration they were pretty crap. Except the Goon Show moment in the Troughton/Pertwee regen. wooahooa
I haven't seen the latest regen so I was strong and stopped the vid so as not to spoil my fun. Going to watch the last Tennant episodes in Wellington if AroVideo gets the DVD to my parent's place in time for my visit later this week. Oh the thrill of expectation.

After the Hartnell/Troughton regeneration they were pretty crap.
To be fair, you could hardly blame Colin Baker for telling the BBC to shove off - refusing to make a transition story and regeneration scene - after the pretty appalling way he was treated. Don't think you can fairly blame him for the generally crap stories he had to work with, the severely dysfunctional production and a Director-General who (not to put too fine a point on it) hated the show.

To begin with Delia thought she had found her own private paradise where she could combine her interests in the theory and perception of sound; modes and tunings, and the communication of moods using purely electronic sources. Within a matter of months she had created her recording of Ron Grainer's Doctor Who theme, one of the most famous and instantly recognisable TV themes ever. On first hearing it Grainer was tickled pink: "Did I really write this?" he asked. "Most of it," replied Derbyshire.

Colin was still prepared to continue as the Doctor, even after being told that he was no longer required. He suggested doing a season's worth of stories and leave in a regeneration story at the end of that series. The BBC however was only prepared to offer him the first story of the 1987 season. Sylvester McCoy's first story was originally written for Colin's Doctor, with the regeneration taking place after he is caught in an explosion at the climax. Colin declined, arguing that this relatively short period of work could hamper his chances of finding other acting roles, and the regeneration was moved to the beginning of the story and staged in Colin's absence.

A Dr Who refersher after QI when Prime will presumably advertise the season's timeslot. And the Tardis will crash on cue.

Just bumping this to say I liked both Matt Smith and Amelia/Amy. Not being a Dr Who fan till the last couple of years, I won't dare say more.

Very sad to report the death of Elizabeth Sladen which brought tears. Thought you'd want to know.
