Deborah puts so well
"Your sangfroid in the face of looming disaster astounds and humbles me, Emma."
Can't improve on that
Speaking about the visual field test and that damed pressure thing (they fire an air blast into your eye that feels like a bullet) for some reason I feel a strong implulse to lie when questioned about the results
Something about being in a dark room with someone questioning you but I strongly have to resist just giving the answer i think they want rather than the truth
Best of luck Emma, wear your red coat with pride
Seems that any tumour in the head area that's not cancer is the best one to have. After the same round of opto' tests inclduing the Visual Field, was diagnosed with a pituitary macroadenoma "the best one to have" apparently.
Seriously tho, if surgery (and private at that) is an option, can unreservedly recommend Andrew Law as a neurosurgeon (based at Ascot in AKL).
I thought the surgery was going to involve all sorts of skull drilling etc but they went in via the nose and sinus cavities and dealt to it. In on Friday, home on Monday.
Wishing you all the best.
Commiserations, Emma -- that's the definition of a crappy day. I trust things will be manageable from here on, with your great good humour and rhetorical ju-jutsu and the best of medical science. Plus, cute doctors.
And/but congratulations for not getting a more horrible diagnosis. The other person I know whose singular, puzzling symptom was loss of part of their visual field in one eye drew a much shorter straw... and it's really not going very well right now :-(
(PSA bit for PAS bods: trust what your eyes are telling you, and don't be shy about taking them to a doctor asap if they're not behaving properly).
Goodness Emma your attitude toward what you've been through is humbling.
I recently had a heart issue diagnosed and just knowing what was actually wrong provided a huge improvement of mind. To improve it further now I'm going to name my wonky valves 'Riley' (for obvious Adric-type reasons) or (because it really is menacing and just won't go away) 'Mr. Morden'....
Enjoy besting Adric..
