  • Lucy Stewart,

Teaching it would be an entirely different matter. "Yes the colours are pretty, but could you just please concentrate on the $500 auto-pipette, because you just stuck it in sulfuric acid." That sort of thing?

More like "turning the pipetter upside-down when you have fluid in the tip does not make it work better. No, really. Really."

Newsflash: forensics is done by ordinary, non-porn-star people in boring, windowless laboratories. Very few glass walls and flashing computers are involved.

Pointless live cross: The Miami-Dade, New York and Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Departments would really love to have that much money. Just as I'd love a pony and sexy quiet time with Russell Tovey.

Life is frustration and disappointment. Pictures as soon as they come to hand.

Rather topically, Slashdot this morning linked to an itworld story which notes that the Adult Industry is being very slow and cautious to go into 3D, which somewhat undercuts Dr Hartwich's line of argument.

And what is it with "you people" and Russell Tovey?! (Craig and I may have recently read the same book.)

I'm just gonna post nothing in particular here, because otherwise I'm going to have to go nuclear fission on that other thread which is doing my head in.

Perhaps I'll go play with the multi-injection auto-pipette for a bit. Although I think I may be banned.

Kyle's Death Star allegory is keeping me hanging in there, but it's tough.

I had a multi-pipetter for my current project until someone stole it and took it to Dunedin (questions of actual ownership are so petty.) I miss it very much.

He's awfully cute, without being some hairless, over-groomed vaguely inhuman 'twink' -- and I understand he spends a fair amount of time in Being Human stark ballocks naked, for entirely legitimate plot reasons. :) What's not to like?

There's one for the slogan campaign.

    Dunedin. Where's my bloody multi-pipetter?

Double century. Well, I have to give Tom credit for getting me through the 190s with a six and a four.

Apparently the discovery of artificial sweeteners tends to be necessarily accidental.

    Apparently one conversation went

    SUPERVISOR: Test it.

Only works because of Lucy and her fusion reactor. If we didn't have that pony my death star would just be a fucking big toaster.

I kind of lost it half way through I think. Danielle did come in with a WTF warning, but I'd been sucked into the vortex by that stage, and was letting my self-guided reductive missile get the better of me.

And we now know that the Death Star response is a much safer option, although I'm thinking the 'fucking big toaster' could have a future role also, in a Hitchhikers Guide sort of way.

The thread has, would you believe, actually sort of moved back on topic. With a minor diversion into Australia's alleged nuclear capabilities, for that extra-special touch of madness.

I kind of lost it half way through I think. Danielle did come in with a WTF warning, but I'd been sucked into the vortex by that stage, and was letting my self-guided reductive missile get the better of me.

The trouble with something which is that totally fucking nuts - and unsupported - is that the question is always whether it's better to attack seriously or laugh off, and there's usually just enough of the debater in most of us to want to prove the other person wrong, rather than just ludicrous. And then we realise it's nearly 10pm and the other guy still believes China is about to invade and we are never going to convince them otherwise.

(Okay, that may just be me.)

Yes, and with that we say, good night and good luck. I doubt he's watching anyway, or maybe he's collecting references? I'm going to the BDO tomorrow, so that will save me from more debasement.

That is possibly my favourite PAS thread ever.

I can just imagine Keith looking at the computer and going "Umm. So about google guys... guys?" while Australia develops a nuclear arsenal to fend off the Chinese immigrant beachhead and NZ votes on whether China or the USA will be our new (best of the worst) overlords. It hasn't even been godwinned yet.
