106 off 149 deliveries. Factor in the 15 wides and it meant that the other batsmen had to score 150 off 151 deliveries. If a guy who has his eye in and is steady at the crease can't get anywhere near a figure like that then prey tell how he expected the rest of the guys to get the runs.

Yeah but againsts a second string Aussie side on a typical Kiwi greentop.
While I'm happy at the win I'd feel a lot better if it'd been against a full strength Aussie outfit on a more batter friendly wicket.

They've played over 600 ODIs before losing by 10 wickets.

cracker of a match - windy and cold - but brilliant to be a part of a little slice of Kiwi and cricket history.
course - there's a record broken at almost every cricket match if you look hard enough! But it was class nonetheless.
Bond's caught and bowled in real time was amazing.
Australian body language and attitude to fielding was decidedly un-Ockerlike. Kim Hughes needs to address them and remind this generation of cricket players how harsh it can be. Possibly it's been so long, they've forgotten how losing hurts so much.
Or it could have been standing around in the southerly breeze and having to wear tops that resembled art class pinnies that was annoying them. :D
Either way - a fine way to spend an evening.

Well what a performance, there can be no detracting from this effort, chasing 337 to win and getting it with balls to spare and wickets in hand. Peter Fulton showed he can accelerate his strike rate when he is 'in' and and grand fifty for McMillan in double quick time put the magic back in the black cap cake, as bracewell might have said. A good day to be on the terraces, lots of fun minded people and not over the top security. Ross Taylor, what a knock he's a legend in the making. I would have liked to see tha captain get amongst the runs but perhaps it was for the best that he got out early. bring on hamiltron.

It's a case study in how to take a group of talented players, working together as a reasonably cohesive unit, and turn them into a rabble.I resile from this statement.

A month is a very long time in professional sport, things can change real quick. I think we're all due a slice of bracewells humble pie in some form or another. I know I for one wasn't too complimentary. But as Hannibal from the A team says, "I love it when a plan comes together"

This is hereby an open apology to Messrs John Bracewell and Craig McMillan.
Gentlemen,
in recent months (if not years) I have given the pair of you a fair amount of stick (in my capacity as a cricket fan, not as a reporter) for your efforts in the cricketing arena. Thank you so, so, much for proving me wrong, and showing that we can be proud of our NZ cricket team.All the "can't bat, can't bloody coach" comments are now being swallowed down with a hefty serving of humble pie.
Now if it's not too much to ask; could you kindly win the World Cup? That'd be just grand.

I think most of us were thinking it had slipped away when he came to the wicket - and the guy clouts 28 off 15 balls!
The over from Watson where he edged it all over the place and then finished off by smacking one past mid-off for four was just priceless.
It seems fair to say they're in good touch. Bring back Bond and Vettori and have Oram replace Styris when he's fit and they look have as good a chance as anyone of winning the World Cup.
