The Kawhia Kai Festival on Waitangi Day. This year we did manage to travel there on the right day. The watermelon halves with ice cream were surprisingly refreshing . Scanned old newspapers in the dinky Kawhia Museum, to find ads for talkies screening in both Kawhia and Oparau in 1932.
