In response to a twitter plea for posts and impressions…
This moves me to compulsively share:
This moves me to the 10th dimension:
This moves me in so many ways, all of them debilitating: (And I'm accepting of the fact 8,100,289 you tube viewers seem to disagree.)

And one song I love for reasons I can’t quite fathom, because it also scares the shit out of me? This Mortal Coil’s cover of ‘Song To The Siren’… (WARNING: CLIP NSFW AS ONLY DAVID LYNCH SEXY TIME CAN BE.)
And this from the series finale of 'Twin Peaks' -- Little Jimmy Scott will see you in the Sycamore Trees. Nice knowing ya'...

Oh, me too! That’s fantastic.
And Jackson......you didn't. I can't believe you did. Right that's it. I've snapped. -
Maybe I missed it, but no John either? We have to think of our Australian friends.

Kylie over John Farham. By about a million.

You're welcome.

3410,
This was one of the top songs of last year (11 weeks at #1 in NZ; #1 in at least 18 other countries).
It makes me want to chew off my own tongue.

There were actually some good Australian songs in the 80s:
And further proving that the only good drums are hexagonal drums:
I recorded that to VHS from RTR and played it to death for months. But how could I not love a band named after a patch for the ARP Odyssey? Mind you, I believe they were the inspiration for a catch phrase that became common among real Ocker pub rock bands: "There'll be no hairdressers from Melbourne playing keyboards in OUR band, mate!"

Trifecta. I thought I couldn't remember this song, and then the opening chords made me want to... I'm not sure, throw something electric blue?

NZ can pride itself on never having spawned anything close to the vileness incarnate that was Farnham (after the shriekingly crass failed attempt to insert him into the Gallipoli 90th anniverary event I'm assuming he's now beyond anything bar the occasional "corporate entertainer" style of gig that's sustained him for the last quarter-century).
What should have been a one-hit novelty career followed by a few years spent smarming to grannies around the leagues clubs was artificially sustained by Festival's sitting on David Cassidy's string of early 70s hits so Farnham could cover them. The godawful King of Pop event, with a tacky televised annual coronation complete with pantomime regalia, saw him through to the 80s when the full horror unfolded . . .

Oh Lord. We don't event agree on what constitutes a good Jimmy Somerville song.

Jackie Clark, in reply to
I love all of his music. All of it. Which is your favourite?

Donnie Darko was a bloody AWESOME movie, and Tears for Fears one of THE great bands of the 80s.

I’d pick The Go Betweens over any of the above, but that’s just me.
Or The Church.
