  • David Kay,

I'm still trawling the internet for Lou stuff and I'm at last going to get my turntable repaired so I can dig up those formative songs.
So I havent quite got over the sad news yet.

I first saw him in 1974 in his glam/heavy metal phase at the Ak town hall. It turned my head around. I may well not have travelled to the UK to see the Punk thing or been receptive to great bands like the Clean or most recently, the Handsome Family in someone's living rooming in Napier! Lets face it - those experiences define you.

I saw him again in 77 at the St James in Dunedin - not a great show but still hugely affecting to hear those songs from the man himself. I still see the roadie having to lift the guitar strap over his wasted figure.

Lastly there was Paris VU reunion - my wildest wishes could not have topped that.

There are lots of us I am sure who could claim this of him.
I may even go out and buy 'Lulu'.

PS Lou qoute: 'My week beats your year'
