  • Robyn Gallagher,

    Jesus chart summary/update:

    "I'm in Love with Jesus"
Debuted 18 November at #29 (#5 in the NZ artists chart)
28 November - not in top 40, #19 in NZ chart.

    "Jesus be our Everything"
Debuted 9 December at #24 (#4 in NZ chart) - an improvement on first single.
But this week it's dropped out entirely.

Meanwhile that Benny Tipene Coke ad song (which is pretty and romantic) has debuted at #15 and I expect it'll stick around for the summer.

Removing it FROM YOUR HEAD now that you’ve heard it, you mean?

    Not a chance. BWAHAHAHAHA.

This is a dangerous game you like to play, Russell. Are you sure you can handle the blowback?

For example, if I just happened to mention that my daughter is running round the house singing The Scorpions?

'Here I am, rock you like a Hurricane'

Oh, is that in your head now? Ooops.....

Flying out Xmas party. Good night, a good vibe. Rather liked Astro Children, and Verlaines #2 = energetic and enjoyable.

  • Russell Brown,

Well clearly, we couldn't get through a week without any mention of Lorde, so here's her surprise Christmas present single, 'No Better', an out-take from Pure Heroine. I can see why they left it off -- it's off on a slightly different path than the rest of the album, with its trap rhythm, but it's a pretty cool thing to have up your sleeve.

    Free download on iTunes.

It really was splendid -- and the fact that Jane Dodd in particular was having such a great time on stage just added to it. 'Lying in State' was like a jet engine.

Happily, it was all recorded and shot by Radio NZ.

Kinda, yeah. DSLR cameras have made good-quality video coverage far more accessible.

  • Craig Ranapia,

Completely off topic, fuck Grammy nominations you know you've arrived when your song is being covered (pretty well, IMO) by a giant clown in desperate need of a wee fistful of uppers.

  • Hebe,

Some all that by Moe Tucker

    And:
“In the Buddhist tradition it takes days 49 days for the spirit to leave the body.It is called “bardo.” Like Jewish Shiva, Irish wakes and different cultural rituals, it is a time for the living to share stories and simply just sit together to help each other and most importantly help the spirit be fully freed into into the Cosmos, December 16 was the fiftieth day and at the Apollo Theater a celebration of Lou Reed’s life and work took place with his friends and family gathered with his wife the artist Laurie Andersen all saying goodbye, good speed Lou.”

That man has uploaded other clips of the memorial including the tai chi (I haven't watched it but some peoples may be interested):
