I suppose I should've explained that the skater holding the sign is Scarface Claudia, so naturally her name was shortened to "Face". It was only a matter of time before that sign showed up.

I'm not sure if I should spill any secrets, but having sat in the stand facing Jed, I can confirm that he uses a flash and that it is insanely bright.

It's just the way he rolls...
The darkened effect is a technique Jed uses called “magic”.
That'll be the modern equivalent of the Rubens filter ...
