  • Tom Beard,

That horrible horrible HORRIBLE Toyota ad with the little boy who goes driving and picks up his girlfriend. Don't ask me why because I know logically it's just an ad, but I hate it and that little boy with the intensity of a thousand white-hot suns.

I know why I hate it so much: it combines two of my least favourite things in the worls. SUVs and babies. *shudder*

    Hayden; bible-bashing redneck.

I will admit to having a "What the deuce?!" moment when I read that.

I think the reason people 'hate' the Pats is because they're so clinical.

Dude, why don't you just say "the reason people 'hate' the Pats is because they rule!"

    Ugh, how COULD you?

It's cos he's got a crush on a french girl. And they have the nicest uniforms.

Actually all of the six nations teams have AWFUL uniforms. the new England ones are terrible (though I do kinda like the new yellow Welsh ones). And no I don't but she does know her rugby.

  • Emma Hart,

Ack. Brett Lee. The day he released that Bollywood single was one of the best days of my life, because it gave me something to snigger over forever.

Oh Megan, we so have to go out drinking one day. I cackled gleefully, then emailed the video to an Aussie friend of mine who lives in London and sent her into an apopleptic fit. Good times.

Grant Fox. God I hated Grant Fox, and I really hated the way Auckland played back then, three points at a time. I continued to hate Richard Loe after he started playing for Canterbury because he was still a total prick.

  • Jacqui Craig,

cough - Hyundai add - cough

I totally got it wrong on purpose, just to illustrate how I am blinded by my irrational hatred. :P

I know why I hate it so much: it combines two of my least favourite things in the worls. SUVs and babies. *shudder*

I also hate SUV-driving babies. The only think i don't hate is the music, which I kind of like.

That's a cruel cruel thing, when you like something about your irrational hatred.

  • Kyle Matthews,

    I never shopped at Shell.

    ...

It was only a habit though, and Fly Buys helped to break it.

I haven't shopped at Shell since they were entangled in the execution of Ken Saro-Wiwa in 1995, while I was protesting at the CHOGM meeting in Auckland. Despite being having made other purchasing decisions on the basis of fly buys, I've avoided Shell for the past 13 years and will continue to do so.

I buy all my petrol from BP. I'm not sure if I could come up with a better reason than being sucked in by the green colour.

That'd explain why he doesn't like Senator John Kerry's favorite team (the Patriots).

I may be missing the joke, but Kerry's favourite team should be the Steelers. They play at his wife's stadium.

Might I nominate the Melbourne Storm, not just because of their cheatin' ways, but also because of the whining of their coach and CEO when they got caught.

On the same basis I had better put a vote behind Arsenal as well

  • Thom James,

I have vivid dreams in which I maim and torture Arsene Wenger in the most sadistic manner imaginable. I cannot abide that arrogant, whining twat of a Frenchman, and while Vieira, Pires and Henry were at the club, they provoked a similar hatred.

And the All Blacks are the smuggest, most self-righteous, jumped-up, arrogant team in the whole of sport. Bar none.

I can’t believe this thread has gone into a second page and no-one mentioned Cristiano Ronaldo.

I'm a Man U fan and he gets on my tits. About as loyal to Man U as Palin to McCain.

You’re being a bit harsh on Palin there.

Something I never thought I’d write.

I think the Australian cricket team top them. And several American sports franchises.

  • Richard Irvine,

In the media, Stu bloody Wilson does my head in. Stems from a wedding I went to where he was MC and rambled on about himself for three hours in a clearly tired and emotional state... disgrace.

For a 'commentator', he has NOT ONE original thing to say, and just covers up his miniscule IQ by endless riffing on 'the big boys up front reckon the fancy boys in the backs are poofs'. And that's it. My long suffering partner has to tell me to pan down whenever he pops up to ruin a game for me.

You may be able to detect I don't like him from this lot.

  • Evan Yates,

    I'm a Man U fan...

I was a Liverpool fan as a youngster but thanks to one Bruce Grobbelaar and his match fixing antics I quit them and wandered aimlessly in football limbo.

Then like a good scientology recruiter, Man U took me under their wing when I won a trip to Manchester (thanks Vodafone and Ric Salizzo's Sportscafe). I got a business class flight to the UK, a tour of Old Trafford, got shouted lunch at the Red Cafe, was given a personalised Man U shirt and also another shirt and ball signed by David Beckham (6 weeks after which he left and went to Real Madrid).

Now I am in the cult.

Perhaps I need to be de-programmed. (Where is Harvey Keitel when you need him)

  • simon g,

From the Nelson Mail, during the campaign:

Mr Key was at ease as he mingled with the crowd, answering people's questions.

He talked football with a group of boys, including 12-year-old Harry Tod-Smith, who supports English club Arsenal. Mr Key said he was a Chelsea supporter.

No wonder Michael Cullen (Spurs) can't stand him.
