Love that velvety darkness Lilith!
Dark red flowers are almost impossible to photograph as they appear to the eye. I found that setting the white balance to tungsten actually gave a more accurate result. Was even darker and more velvety in reality! :-)

Sometimes photographing them in the gloaming helps! That's a beauty with it's crystal rain : )

usual haunts
Love this: where is it? Wisteria and foxgloves and delphiniums inside is unusual.

It's the Wintergarden glasshouses at the Auckland Domain. They had a beaut display of tulips in there a few months ago, it's all in cleverly hidden pots. It smells divine too : )

How on Earth did you get that lighting?! It looks like you time warped into a sci fi film.

Strange things springing up in my neighbourhood... what is that cylindrical thing? It looks far too industrial to be sitting on what has been little more than waste land since the widening of the road wiped out the perfectly (well, almost...) good line of restaurants and cool little DVD store that were there. A friend did stumble across people apparently belonging to an underground church that met in an old building a bit further back in the same mostly waste lot, but why would they need this cylindrical thing or cellphone tower-looking thing? hmmm.... mysteries....
