Nothing summery on this coast these last few days.
Instead, an off-road excursion a few Sundays ago to Whareongaonga –
looking broadly north up the coast, Poverty Bay and Gisborne beyond Young Nicks Head/Te Kuri a Paoa right of centre.Brightening headland, darkening ahead as a shower sweeps in from the sea towards Poverty Bay.

1920s whare, ongaonga (= tree nettle, Urtica ferox ) to the fore,
they go together well, today as eponymously some centuries ago?Half-valley truncated by the coast, south towards Mahia peninsula
