Is it wot! I took this photo of the Taieri plain yesterday. It’s not called a flood plain for nothing! No reflections visible in this image, but I feel sure they are in there somewhere!

But strangely evoked these non-sterile patterns of 'lights' against the dark – half-composted feijoa leaves and related debris under the feijoa tree, erratically rummaged by black chook and lesser blackbirds, after a rather warm day…

And a few seconds later, the pukeko adjusts its angle for the walnut foliage to consider…

and all flatulants blame the rocks.

That is a very nice shot by the way!

Incidentally showing I live in a natural gaslands – those bubbles and faint ripples from their abrupt arrival at the surface are from natural gas seeping from the rocks below.…

Those ripples could well be mesmeric.

Is that the full photo? It's messing with my head as it looks like there are different vertical layers of reflections – is it several different water pools?

And under the tree itself, as weak sun broke through low cloud to disperse the fog. Just upstream, the weeping willow too has its foliage maximally yellow, more concentratedly so.

I got one, for the transit of Venus last year. Need to get out and give it a try. Above photos were with the iPhone again, on an unexpected detour. Must carry my camera case more often.

Yes indeed, you really need a neutral density filter, about $80 on trademe for a variable one. It allows you to get 30 second exposures that smooth out water and blurr people etc in daylight. Cheap ones have bad colour casts, good ones…
