The big idea of the twitchhiker was to travel from Newcastle (UK) to Campbell Island (NZ) with the help only of those on Twitter. He got to Stewart Island in the preset 30 day timeframe, apparently our internet/mobile phone coverage or lack thereof was a stumbling block. Twitchhiker story

I'm pretty sure it's just a live stream. It would be more hassle than it's worth to filter it.
