  • Carol Stewart,

You poor things - what Giovanni said - thinking of you too. My son wants to donate all $100 of the prize money he won a couple of weeks ago to the earthquake appeal.
Having been through the Inangahua earthquake as a very small child, I have never been in the least bit staunch about earthquakes. I find them terrifying.

Okay, now the Hawke's Bay is looking to muscle in on Christchurch's earthquake action. Just before 11am:

Hawkes Bay quake: Mag 5.2 15km deep, 20 km South East of Porangahau

I just hope that those in charge of the cleanup are getting some seriously professional advice on how best to deal with this.

I shudder to think just when the last of a hundred thousand damaged buildings will be repaired.

    which one was it though?

    Cracking over the plastered...
Most of the bars in Chch Henderson's "developed" - but not strengthened I guess - Sol Square are seriously compromised and don't look like reopening any time soon...

    Plastering over the cracks...
Look for Henderson to follow the money:

"Anyone in the brick - or block-laying business, all their problems are over, along with anyone in construction or civil services."

Heres a nice movie of the quakes from Sciblogs. Look for "Mapping Quakes in Canterbury".

I dumped it in the other post as well.

As in the monumentally unsuccessful film about his exploits We're Here To Help ? Maybe there is a sequel I'm Here, To Help Myself to the Profits?

I'm afraid we're going to need everyone to confirm that they're okay again... a trawl through twitter has been largely fruitless.

Nothing from Emma and Harvesbird yet, Isabel and Cheryl okay. If I wasn't such a twitter klutz I'd find more of our peeps.

Hey Jackie, I suspect if everyone got through the 7 on Saturday, they will be good through the 5 (talking 4 times less remember) albeit a little shaken (doh! obviously). I would also imagine that updates from the PAS crowd could be erratic. Y'know, priorities an' al' ;).
David's "Southerley" will be a humdinger, it'll be nice to hear his take.

"This is a time of tragedy. It is not a time of entertainment or comedy."

So true. I'm sure my neighbours here in Avonside would welcome a small grey monument to pomposity. Just the thing to shore up that saggy kitchen, provided he keeps his yap shut.
