Ok, maybe not upside down but definitely a smooth player.

    Moroccan roll...

That upside-down-bass player is one funky disguised dude. At least I assume he's a dude...

  • Hard News: Doing Science in Court,

A fairly on-topic link that I thought might be enjoyed round these parts. Not our Tom Scott but I'm sure he would appreciate it.

  • Hard News: The McCully Touch,

Gawd. I was looking at Lucia's NZ Conservative post, and the comment underneath it.

Don't go there unless you're prepared to be seriously creeped out.

You also want to keep away from the comments under the stuff.co.nz article. I was amazed at how many commenters fully supported Haden. It must have been at least half in his favour. Unbelievably a large portion of them were women. The ignorance was truly awe-inspiringly sad. Of course, these are the same women who think Tony Vietch got a raw deal so no real surprise I guess. Still sad though.

  • Hard News: Friday Beep Test,

How, HOW has it taken so long to give Helen Mirren a BFG?

After seeing how comfortable she looks holding it, I can see why.

  • Hard News: Saying Goodbye to The Independent,

I like her too. And I can't think of anyone else.
But if she's that grumpy at 5pm, at 6am she'll be strangling puppies and electrocuting bunnies between questions :)

    ROFL

Whilst I take Russell's point that she's good a repeatedly asking the question, sometimes they have already answered the bloody question just not in the way that she wants them too. So I find myself agreeing with Craig R. She annoys the crap out of me.

  • Hard News: Music's emerging digital market,

I have not been into a Red Shed to buy anything since JB Hifi opened.

Yes there is a whole lotta "Digital eating physical" cannibalisation going on, but on a street level JB are eating the Warehouse's (and any other remaining high street mass retailers ) lunch for them.

I agree. They contributed to almost wiping Real Groovy out and as they spread around the country people who buy their music at The Warehouse will realise it's just as cheap at JB Hifi but is actually filed and displayed logically not just tossed randomly onto a table.

I take Samuel's point about the difference in service at a Slowboat type store to a JB, although I do know quite a few cynical types working at JB too and quite a few of them know their music/movies.

  • Hard News: Dude, what just happened?,

Completely off topic (but I had to post), check out this squirming b(w)anker. I'm starting to believe they might actually be able to change the financial regulatory system - but I'm probably being overly optimistic.

  • Hard News: The Whankernui Factor,

On the subject of Michael, can anyone tell me why Micheal Luck from the Warriors spells his name that way? Were his parents dyslexic or just trying to be 'different'?

  • Hard News: The Whankernui Factor,

Personally I liked the suggestion that we spell his name as 'Micael', after all it is a silent 'h' so why use it.
