  • Up Front: Absence of Malice,

<I can also recall a time or two when I was seen on the streets by a teacher who very pointedly looked the other way as she went past>

Mr Wigglesworth (true. innumerable nicknames) the accounting teacher could sometimes be spotted out the back with the other - usually wagging - surfers on a really good surf day

  • Up Front: Absence of Malice,

Mt Maunganui College late 70's early 80's - wagging.

My friends & I would show up to school for the first couple of lessons, then go to the closest friend's house (whose parents both worked) & watch Days of our Lives. Then go back to school for the last period. All dependant on what subject/teacher we had - some were more observant than others.

  • Speaker: Database Nation,

The US have just announced a new "not really a visa" requirement for travel there, for nationals of countries witha visa waiver agreement already in place. This includes NZ & AU nationals

  • Hard News: Some cool stuff so you won't…,

    @ Alan

See you there! I'm off to dig out my Docs from some dingy hiding place at the back of my wardrobe (oh - and some earplugs!)

  • Hard News: History is now,

Damn - I have to go out now. Thanks all for your entertaining & enlightening commentary for those of us sneaking peeks while ostensibly doing work.
Bring on hometime & the cold bottle of bubbly in the fridge

  • Up Front: The Classics Are Rubbish Too,

Pynchon's "Against the Day". Tedious beyond belief. I also couldn't finish "Zen & the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance"

  • Hard News: Life Goes On,

I was in LA for 3 months earlier this year & can't recall any particularly stupid questions - but I was very happy when the cashiers at Macy's, when realising I wasn't "from here" from my accent, deducted the sales tax from my purchases!

  • Up Front: First Footing,

I'll see Danielle's 50 pairs & raise by 30. Yep - at least 80 pairs at last count, summer & winter. I Love Shoes. New shoes. 2nd Hand shoes. And boots. Sandals. Espadrilles. Jandals. You name it - I have one (or three).
However, also being a Mt Maunganui beach kid, (there's a bit of a swag of us here it seems) I like nothing better than feeling the grass under my feet & the sand between my toes. Supermarket vinyl is lovely & cool on barefeet in summer, after walking there on th ehot pavement.
