  • Hard News: Congratulations, Mr Key,

8,000 jobs - F**K me that is a lot of chopping!

Where are they going to get jobs?
    Real estate?
    Building?
    Finance companies?

The PSA must be very worried.

How many golden handshakes will there be?
Will National's policy of assisting those who get get laid off from tough economic times be available to these people?
    Uh no.

Let's do some numbers on redundancy costs, 'handshake' costs and unemployment benefit costs for 8,000 people and see how much that out ways any savings.

  • Hard News: And meanwhile ...,

But Citizens & Ratepayers councillor Toni Millar said Mr Lotu-Iiga was not the first politician to mix national and local body commitments.

She said he was an "incredibly level-headed" councillor with "a massive propensity for hard work".

"I just feel that he will cope. Sam does not take on more than he believes he can do."

So... he believes two days a week is sufficient for such a role?
Jeeze - if we could all be that good at our work eh?

    lol

    :P

Re John Ansell - It kind of occurred to me he was a bit of a loose unit himself.
The guy has seemingly worked on every party's election campaign at some point then had a 'falling out' and got grumpy sucking about it.
    Most recently ACT's 2008 campaign.

While his National billboards from 2005 might have been 'clever' to some people they looked bloody horrible.
A guy with a PC and Microsoft Publisher calling themselves a 'designer'.

Seems like he has a chip on his shoulder - no excuse for that kind of carry on.

Footnote: WHY are election ads so devoid of aesthetic quality. OK the Greens nailed it but the rest were pretty awful.
Keep the damn Photoshop off Helen for a start!
    What would Hillary think?

  • Hard News: Congratulations, Mr Key,

I heard Key wants to start saving money at the top end.
They are selling back the BMWs and getting a 'City Hopper' Daihatsu Sirion.
Only one car though - and they have to book in advance to use it.
As they will have fired the Public Service members responsible for Ministerial cars it means each booking has to be 8 months in advance.
Otherwise it'll be walking or public transport for MPs (no credit given to the Greens of course - the Greens didn't invent legs did they. Or trains).

  • Hard News: Congratulations, Mr Key,

OK which of the 6,000 Public Servants are going to get the chop?

And, will they all end up on the dole/move to Australia, therefor increase the unemployment figures in NZ and/or the so-called exodus to Oz?

Won't be a good look for National.

And, if you think you have a hard time now getting to speak to someone in a Govt. Dept......

It'll probably take you 6 months to get a passport now - lol

Footnote; the 60 Minutes piece last night on TV3 about Aussie moving to Oz.
Funny how it got played AFTER the election.
Something like 14,000 Aussies moved here last year?
    Hmmmm.

  • Hard News: Congratulations, Mr Key,

Well, I wouldn't go that far but eloquent he has never really been.
As a PM I did not rate him a bit - I think he's much better in these types of roles.

  • Hard News: Congratulations, Mr Key,

I agree - did you hear Bolger give a very glowing account of Helen on Sunday?

Being the chairman of Kiwi Bank certainly has lifted him up in my estimation.

Gotta guy the guy his dues.

As for the likes of Shipley - I'm sure if any National Party supporter saw her on the telly on Sat and didn't know who she was, they would have most likely thought she (looked) like one of those Labour Party dykes!

    LOL
