  • Hard News: Obscuring the News, in reply to EE,

cue serious debate on what "news" actually is

I would imagine the Herald considers all their posts news or opinion

  • Hard News: Medical cannabis: a polling experiment, in reply to Rich of Observationz,

dance/clubbing has always been a minority interest compared to say sports but more popular and frequented than say live music.... from what I hear from DJs (I'm too old to venture out much) Auckland clubbing is as vibrant as its ever been

huge increase in young electronic producers doing their thing largely outside of the "music scene" - a wonderful thing...

  • Hard News: Medical cannabis: a polling experiment, in reply to Russell Brown,

anacdotal - younger people I crossed a lot when active in the dance scene, a few years back now, really looked down on pot... saw it as old peoples thing

  • Hard News: Friday Music: Sweet Inspiration,

Can think of a number edits/remixes of kiwi classics danced up - won't share them as to be polite they are abominations... that Yandall Sisters one is pretty ace

  • Hard News: Stop acting like the law is…,

it seems to me outside of the law there has been massive incremental change... the poll reflects that - drugs are bad, m'kay... but pot not so bad, m'kay

where there has been no change is from our politicians, if anything since Nandor left office and the whole synthetic cannabis disaster things have crept backwards

I for one am more than ready for some actual change, in law and not just around medicinal purposes - we don't need a large influx of new patients looking to game the system and sympathetic doctors put into compromising positions

  • Hard News: Stop acting like the law is…,

The interesting thing about the poll is that it was commissioned by the Drug Foundation from Curia Research

I read that as being quite clever - how better to get the govt looking at drug policy or at least the results of a poll like this than using their preferred means of knowing stuff

I'm quite heartened by the poll and hope/expect National do their trademark about turn when they realise its good for them to do so... cause if anyone hoping for change can see Labour's stance of the past week only has one face palming and realising they aren't going to be anything but embarrassing over this issue for the time being

  • Polity: Hidden Costs,

I think depression stalks us all, especially given we only celebrate our winners and achievers - of which few of us can hope or aspire to be

Anyone that follows their heart or passion will at some point be confronted by their own self...

  • Hard News: Friday Music: Reduction…,

Quietly excited about King Loser and Sleepers Union at the Others Way - some older types to compliment the creative array of younger ones

This just released video by Sleepers Union is lit or a banger as the kids would say - me I just think its awesomely big

I think Lil Chief Records is one of the great record labels from NZ, go them!

  • Speaker: The Uncomfortable Silence,

Ask me how he lived though.

The question no one asks regardless of cause of death - my mum died of cancer... people would ask when she was dying if she smoked... she did... the look of sympathy would fade to be replaced by a look that was devoid of, um, being polite... empathy

Sorry your brother is no longer and thank you for your moving words
