  • Hard News: Footnotes,

Oh and good luck to the Pounder tonight. May I recommend a ruler to whack over people's knuckles to keep them in line?

  • Hard News: Footnotes,

Brill piece from Martin. I was pretty bloody surprised when the not guilty verdict came through for reason he gives in his article.

In the meantime here's another great summary of the saga in song that I just can't help plugging.

  • Hard News: ffunnell Up!,

We head out once a week to the Avondale markets for all our vege needs. It's cheap as chips and there's plenty to see and do. I've found "Farmer's Markets" in the city to be a bit expensive for me and mostly patronised by "foodies." Ugh.

Yeah, and props to the teams that try to do something serious and succeed. There was a really good one last night at Heat 1 of the Auckland screenings to do with dreams and the like. Really quite good.

Just to expand on my humor trumps all comment if I may. The funnier the film is the more fun I can usually expect to have making it which, for me, is the ultimate goal of the weekend.

  • Hard News: It would be polite to ask,

I was somewhat confused when talking to Doug Armstrong yesterday when he argued against any sort of public consultation on the grounds of too hard, too expensive, not enough time to do so etc. Yet in the same conversation suggested if you got one thousand Aucklanders in the same room they'd be in favour of the Government's plan, of course how he'd know that without the public's input I have no idea.

  • Hard News: Nerd Dad,

I can only recommend the doco "The Mindscape of Alan Moore" whch does exactly what it says on the tin.

It's pretty psychedelic and has Moore wafting through puffs of smoke saying things like "... culture is turning to steam." Mesmerising.

  • Hard News: Nerd Dad,

Signed by Alan Moore???! Well, my nerd spleen has just erupted all over my Marvelman collection. Did you meet the sage himself?

  • Hard News: Flu diversions,

I recently watched The Incredible Shrinking Man from 1957.

99 percent of it is a domestic procedural about a dude getting smaller (male disfranchisement?) until the last minute when the guy shrinks so much he becomes one with the universe.

    Awesome spider fight too.
