I'm worried that after the election, National will cobble together some sort of majority then claim that because the public voted them back in, the left's smear campaign didn't work and it's back to business as usual.
It seems that most of the National party membership will hold their nose until after the election. If they win they will hope the fuss will die down, if they lose, the knives will come out. I really, really hope they lose. -

That's not spinning, that's sustained loss of traction by both of them. I could almost smell the rubber smoke coming out of the radio.

Campbell Live picked this up last night showing a huge hole in the treasury forecast because the EQC has not reported its financial position. If the EQC shortfall is taken into account it seems to leave an enormous budget defect that the next government will have to deal with if they want to settle Christchurch earthquake claims before 2016. It would kind of take the shine off Bill English's "Look we're good economic managers, here's our surplus and if you're all good we might give you a tax cut" speeches.

The saddest thing about this affair is that not only will it disengage a proportion of the population from voting, it will also discourage good people from thinking about entering parliament. We already have enough egotists, barrow pushers and morally suspect individuals in there already, if we get many more it will end up a toxic pit of vipers that no one in their right mind would enter.

For whatever it’s worth, I discovered this morning that Kim Dotcom, or whatever constitutes his Twitter presence, is now following me. That appears to be about it.
Sadly it appears to me that Mr Dotcom despite his millions, still thinks it's fine to not only steal IP but to doctor it to make it appear as his own work. To not even acknowledge the fact when called out on it shows the character of the man.
