Thankfully, Twitter's keeping it classy
With just over 12 hours until polls open, and with mounting public feeling, the Sun’s pig-themed front page has inspired the hashtag #JeSuisEd.
The messy-eater selfies are intended to give the Labour leader some comfort that none of us look exactly prime ministerial when eating a breakfast buttie.
Yup and by hashtag #misappropriating an expression of solidarity with the victims and survivors of an act of mass murder, which vile as that Sun front page is is not even close.

Meanwhile, Russell Brand, influential prat that he is, has decided after a video interview with Miliband, that people should vote after all – after voter registration has closed.
And God, I wish the media gush around this would be a little more upfront that the overwhelming majority of Brand’s umpty gazillion Twitter followers are not, never were and never will be qualified to vote in the UK.

The Northern Express and Inner Link are bus services which Transdev Australasia has never had any contractual role in running. Take my word for that, since they've also been my partner's employer for eleven years and he's worked in the rail industry not on the busses since 1964.

Well, I'd have loved to be disappointed by Len Brown. Thanks to another Auckland Transport flustercluck (apparently nobody thought to lay on any extra capacity on the Northern Express or Inner Link to meet entirely predictable demand), we got there just in time for the national anthems.
If there was one day it would have been really nice for AT to get its act together, it was Saturday. Shame nobody thought to try.

Leaving the Wellington dawn parade this morning, I noticed at least a couple of cafes open on Cuba Street, at least one of which had some ANZAC themed advertising out front taking advantage of the mass exodus, and Burger King on Lambton Quay appeared to be open. Are they allowed to trade on ANZAC morning these days?
Honestly, the only thing that was affronted by seeing people lined up at the Newmarket Coffee Club around 7am yesterday was my inner coffee snob. As Michael Homer pointed out, it’s been the case for twenty five years.
I’d thought that Australia was a little tougher than NZ when it came to enforcing the sanctity of ANZAC proper, but it seems that Mammon must be appeased.
Again, I really wish ministers that have merrily slashed support for veterans, servicemen and women and their families would take their moral high horses to the knacker’s yard. It’s long since crossed the line from tiresome to offensively two-faced. BTW, how many auctions do you think were being held in Sydney during hail storms, flash floods and freakishly torrential rain?
