  • Hard News: Mac Ouch,

Schadenfreude is watching Fox News at anytime now. It becomes strangely addictive to watch and to see how crazy and out of touch these people are. Having said that I did see some of the round the clock coverage that Fox had of Limbaugh, and it wasn’t even comical, it was actually a feeling of “how does anyone at all take this man seriously anymore”.

    Spurs. Sheesh

It's not easy being a Spurs supporter at the best of times, but my god it's tough right now. Its was only two years ago when Spurs (should have) made the Champions League. Now I can really see them going to the Championship...

Apparently their punt kicker is the first Australian to make it to the superbowl final (ex-AFL star).

I have always thought that being a punter must be one of the easiest jobs in sport. Sure the whole team is rushing you, but as long as you can catch all you have to do is punt the ball as far as you can a couple of times a game. Job over!

  • Field Theory: My first cricket match,

<quote>Does anyone here know anything about his upbringing? I've heard rather second hand that he may even have been living a street kid type of existence at one point.<quote/ quote>

He certainly didn't live on the streets. People I know know him a bit and he grew up in Napier pretty standard upbringing really, he just has a problem with booze. Probably like any 24 year old, except turning up to work hungover in his case is a bit different...

  • Hard News: Need to Know,

The NBR editor was quite spectacular. Oliver Driver queried him on a number of occasions, I don't think he could quite believe what Gibson was letting out of his mouth! Truly disturbing that such a person edits a major newspaper in this country...

On a personal note Russell,As a long time reader and not often commenter, thanks for keeping Public address rolling along. It has been a great(almost) daily read. It makes a refreshing change from the majority of the right wing nutjob blogs in this country so happy holidays to yourself and your whanau, and keep up the good work!

  • Hard News: And meanwhile ...,

Redbaiter has joined the Poneke thread ...

People like Russell Brown need to understand that the dialogue has shifted from a benign acceptance of leftism to a passionate rejection of its core principles by a large part of the population and growing resentment at the way in which many socialists seek to shove those principles down our throat regardless.

Given his near 360-degree definition of what constitutes "socialism", the poor wee poppet is just setting himself up for heartbreak, isn't he?

I find that highly ironic considering National only did so well because they adopted a vast array of Labour's policies. What they voted for was a change of face rather than some wild shift to the right. That is why I find it strange that some of the extreme right (Redbaiter et al) are shouting to the heavens. Indeed to get power National has had to hug the centre with Labour.

I will probably be proved wrong in the coming three years if National goes back on its promises....

  • Hard News: Heard any good tunes lately?,

I really hope they dont win. Is it just me or is One day just a complete ripoff (lyrically) of Stuff and Nonsense by Split Enz??
Considering two of the entries are famous because of TV ad's I really hope Phoenix Foundation or Liam Finn win...

  • Booze Britain,

I used to watch this on Sky in Ireland, which was followed funnily enough by our won Motorway Patrol and Police 10/7! Those two programs used to make me laugh thinking how little (most) of our crimes are compared to other countries....
