    Happy Birthday Hadyn!!!

Oh, and maybe the Balck Ferns could have a celebrity fundraiser - I think Anika Moa used to represent Canterbury in Women's Rugby.

  • Field Theory: Pow! Vroom! Ka-Ching!,

Getting back to the grid girls, apparently the 2008 Australian Grand Prix had grid boys as well as girls - aka 'grid slot indicators'. They were trying to bring F1 to a biceps'n'pecks-appreciating audience.

  • Field Theory: Wellingtonista and Want-mas,

I want anything from Swonderful. And I want a good book, not the good book, but Scar Tissue by Anthony Keidis. I'm told it's a great read. And this is my first xmas (pretty much) away from my mum, so by midday xmas day I'll be wanting my mommy and her home-made pav!

  • Field Theory: On Averages,

yeah, enough of the chart-bashing. They are obviously indicative stats based on a limited time series. No amount of regression, moving averages, or other fanciful statistical pickiness will give more any meaning to the numbers. They is indicative people! appreciate them for what are... pretty, pretty charts.

  • Field Theory: On Averages,

What is also interesting about the Ali Williams stats is that, while his First 3 stats look pretty wild, there appears to be a bit of predictability in his performance - sharp decreases are usually followed by sharp increase and vice versa. Maybe it's a regression-to-the-mean kinda thing.

  • Field Theory: Send in the clowns,

I found Little Britian real funny too. But the laughs definitely come from unease with the stereotypes. If you didn't live in a culture that looks down on 'Vicky Pollards' or 'Daffyds' you wouldn't find Little Britain funny.

  • Field Theory: Sport and Politics,

I remember seeing Trevor Mallard zooming around the Beehive on a penny farthing too. And many times since in a recurring dream...
