  • Hard News: Denial,

What a post. 3 points got under my skin.

Willie Jackson has not one radio station to broadcast his drivel but TWO!! And one taxpayer funded. The man is taking the piss and I hope Mediawatch is indeed keeping watch. A broadcaster must at least have a semblance of an open mind. Mr Overrated was better as a mayoral candidate. The previous owner of his house must not be happy.

I heard Cantabrians today threatening to boycott AB games. Secede already or just grow up! It's a game, as we seem to be reminding everybody recently.

By the way, Murray Deaker's first 5 minutes in the weekend is a classic. From a man who has had a number of second chances in his life comes the damning of a his own personal god, of whom he's written the ultimate arse kissing ode up until the start of the game against France. All it takes is one game to end a love affair. This is Grecian. This is mad.

and the Herald's campaign against the Electoral Finance Bill always had the whiff of desperation, which was evidenced in the the unavailability of the editor. If you're going to stand up for your views. Stand UP! or shut up.

  • Radiation: Making a list,

I'm not skiting but my MySky is constantly at 10 per cent which requires Reserve Bank style manipulation to keep the whole shebang going.

I have a 3 year old episode of 49up which has survived the purges needed to fit my one-month-free-Rialto-movie recording binges. I'll probably see 56up first.

There must be a word for the recorded-yet-destined-never-be-watched TV sitting around in boxes all over the world

  • Word of the Year 2007,

    How bout "versing"

It's been around a little while. It's how the kids talk about who they're playing in a competitive event. eg "AGS is versing St Pauls in football"

I only suggest it as I was horrified to be asked by a 40 something recently who my son's cricket team is "versing" this weekend.

  • Island Life: The doctor will see you now,

PS The French ripped my girlfriend guts out tout suite and flew her to Paris for the privelege, thereby saving her life. Not bad for an etranger

  • Island Life: The doctor will see you now,

    Aaaahhh the French and ducks.

In my French sojourn I ended out at at a ski resort in Provence called La Foux d'Allos. Just outside the town was a barn which housed a restaurant called "The Farm".

Everything on the menu was made of ducks. INCLUDING THE ICE CREAM. But there I had duck livers that melted in the mouth as though made of ice and yet the flavour was as thick as a stew.

And on the coffee. I had the best in the world at the fish market in Nice every morning at 5am as I headed off to work. It's in a small square by the bus station off Vieux Nice.

Oooh It's fun to sound like a pretentious wanker 15 years on.

  • "The Terrorism Files",

Blah Blah Blah Blah. Tomorrow we'll all wake up. Most will read the headlines only. they'll say f... the Maori. The Maori will say..f... you all and rangitoto will blow up for the sake of marketing. Mark my words. We are a petty state too often.

  • "The Terrorism Files",

    I/S is right.

The Dom Post has published the details without attribution so it could affect the whole 17.

They did so for some sort of greater public interest. If anything in the wad could help with determining the accused's intentions then it's public disclosure could see it ruled inadmissable in the firearms case against any of them.

Surely the public good would be better served by a proper fair trial and not this trial by blog and talkback moan. And, if in the fullness of time there exists a possibility to nail these guys on a larger charge then tell me where you're going to find 12 citizens fair and true.

If they are terrorists then the media is helping them evade the consequences. And while I understand part of the Dom Post's motivation of the higher role of media in keeping the world honest. I am wary that neither they or any other media that runs with it understands the full implications of the legal case.

  • "The Terrorism Files",

I'm honestly trying to see if anyone can come out of this with dignity.

From Politicians who can't write laws to cops who storm buses.

From race relations set back 100 years to the media perverting justice for the ratings.

From strident hikoi marchers to rabid letters-to-the editor writers.

Who ripped the head off the collective chicken?

  • Speaker: Vote Grey Warbler,

I also think the Ruru (morepork) is under-recognised as well. Perhaps next year's candidate ?

Come now! The old morepork gets all the gigs on TV ads. The evocative call at the end as you digest the kicker or the quizzical expression of bamboozled human. If the director needs a night scene then out comes the Ruru.

No Kakapo it is. The bird that sounds like the world champion Coke bottle flute blower

2 years in Vieux Nice working on the English radio in Monaco. 1 advertiser from Biot burnt his shop and his wife to the ground to claim double insurance. But 10 minutes back from the sea in the arriere pays the real Provence refuses to die and property prices are surprisngly low
