Whilst you are at it, let us know which parts of the "real science" are in dispute and which parts are not.

Andrew, no no. You publicly put it out there that Al Gore has lied about climate change. So, let's publicly hear those lies and see them for what they are.

Hey Andrew, I'd love for you to document Al Gore's climate change lies, just for the record.

Russell, did you see Dr. Cullen? Did you ask for your money back?

It is that time of year, right?

  • Hard News: Graceless Islanders,

Brighton Rock, by Grahame Greene. The only one of his books worth re-reading, especially when worrying about the descent of today's youff into the abyss.

Russell's right, maybe today's opinion writers should delve back occasionally.

  • Stories: Injuries,

Those who fail to learn the lessons of history are in for a repeat.

My learning leads me to the following, in no particular order:

When flies lay eggs in your head the maggots come out of a horrible pussy hole.

Ski boots are not great mountaineering equipment on ice in high winds. The flip side of this is that it is possible to fall off a ridge in the Souther Alps and escape unscathed.

Wheel chairs with small front wheels should not be ridden at speed down potholed hills. Two up is especially lethal.

and as Emma says, all the above dedicated to Haywood and his GPs.

  • Yellow Peril: Are you gonna liberate us…,

There is becoming an established PA tradition that Tze's threads run on ... for evar (welcome back BTW).

So in that vein I offer the following:

    Shorter: What Juha said.

Hmmm, I might have agreed until recently. A few months back I mentioned a technical conference in Aussie where we were a (smallish) sponsor. Bigotry and misogyny got a surprising look in. Seems we are not the only sponsor considering our position for next time. Interestingly(!) Russell posted my comment on kiwiblog and sure enough abuse followed. There have been other recent instances of this that have caused me to pause and reconsider some more.

As for geeks, there are females out there, a good place to start is Linuxchix.

I am more and more convinced that the reason there are not as many of female geeks male has a lot to do with stupid white boys. Sometimes, in my case anyway, SWB behaviour has to do with thoughtlessness. That's where posts like this are an important wake up call.

For those who think I am trying to kick off the "white boy" debate all over again, please note the "stupid" adjective and the following smiley :-)

  • Island Life: Green Acres,

    <strike>fast cars and fast women</strike>

Same as George Best. He claims to have wasted the rest.

loss-attributing qualified companies (LAQC's) are the third(?) largest number of company in nzl by type.

and, they're nothing more than a vehicle for negative gearing of investment properties

Unless, of course, you happen to be starting up a company for other reasons. In that case an LAQC is a life safer...

Starting up a business is hard enough without the peculiarities of the property market making things harder, thanks.

  • Hard News: The Civility Code,

If the Minister of Education can say fuck it

If the same Minister can immediately apologise, D4J, will you be following suit? Everyone loses their rag or says stupid stuff sometimes, the true test is whether you can step back and say sorry when you have gone over the line of acceptability.

Do you really think your internet posts, which have a near constant theme of personal abuse and hatred, are the equivalent of someone getting momentarily annoyed in a parliamentary debate? Where is you perspective? Its not like he threw his opponent down the stairs or anything.

Seems to me that you have a voice that needs to be heard but no-one in their right mind is going to give credence to your message when it is toned in the way it is.

  • Hard News: The Solipsistic Left,

ending to the thread from hell.

Well the part I was involved in was interesting. Lots of disagreement and vigorous debate. Good stuff. Did you think PA was a comfortable echo chamber or something :-)
