Don't know about Franks - but I am worried about school principals today. Do they not give a shit about our kids anymore?

That being said, I Coddington was not alone in her line of attack when that article was published. I personally heard Stephen Franks floating a few interesting "ideas" about Asian immigration (old good, new bad). Franks was a bit smarter in that he posed his particular whistles as "questions" that the audience should be thinking about.

His (largely Asian) audience were, I think, a little stunned as for the uninitiated that sort of line takes a while to think about and then argue against. A couple us got in some challenges but it was water of a duck's back.

Makes me proud to be a reader :-) Congratulations.

I have some sympathy for Coddington's 'Robyn made me do it' defense.

I'm surprised (at your sympathy). A similar defense seems to have been used for other stuff ups she has made in the past. When will she have the courage of her political convictions and take personal responsibility? A simple "I was wrong" would do.

  • Island Life: Deliver us from Alan,

Confused. Whilst those diary guys are snorting snow the lamb growers are down a whopping $20 bucks a carcass ($70 to $50).

If the problem is houses and diary, whack those two issues, not the whole damn economy. This is export year, remember.

And yes, I am planning a light lunch in preparation for Haywood's next tale from the barbie.

  • Stories: Overseas Experience,

As for OE stories, finding shit smeared all over the rest rooms in a state park in Nebraska moved us through that state in a hurry. Getting offered a job coaching soccer kids, on the strength of of a rotting sports top and a cute accent, in Laramie, Wyoming the next day turned our low around around.

Being able to buy a "fanny pouch".

Also NZers forget, perhaps, just how exotic the Pacific is to visitors from the rest of the world.

  • Stories: Overseas Experience,

Given that 25% of us "kiwis" forgot to go home in the other direction, and given that, elf like, we are all supposed to be fleeing for the Australian tax havens, I have an idea for another topic. Why the hell are you still here!

Matt, what instructions are you given for participating on that show? Is it "be nice to sitting ducks"?

    Just wondering.

It is a little bizarre that the Greens take the "mainstream science" approach to global warming but not to what are, essentially, pharmaceuticals.

A little arsenic was one favoured cure all of the past. Quite natural.

...or Lewis Grassic Gibbon (well, forget the humour).

Sunset Song caused quite a stir in the villages round Laurencekirk as most of its characters were just a little too recognisable. Beautiful story though.
