It wouldn't be appropriate for me to be specific but I know of two instances in the last couple of weeks where local artists have had their entire YT catalogue unrightfully claimed.

Naughty DRM have been recently challenging/claiming NZ clips on YT they don't manage rights for/distribute - ie. you're an artist, you've put your own video/song ( your publishing and master rights ) up there and next minute DRM has flagged it as theirs. And everything else you have up there. Which damages the artist's record with YT. Maybe it's a bot that does that accidentally, but it's pretty shit.

When you're drunk and tired, you make simple mistakes like that. Sheesh.

  • Hard News: Jonesing,

Isn't this all about doing a multi-week, US Primary style election in which the candidates are not just talking to the party, but to the wider voting base? To show them the party is alive, has options, take the chance to humanise the candidates. A pseudo election campaign really. A practice run run on personalities and policies. Instead of just doing it behind closed doors in a few hours as usual.

  • Notes & Queries: Confessions Of A Sleepwalker,

Yes. I too have had the early morning-in-a-strange-hotel--locked-out-naked situation on several occasions - and a nightmare it is. As you describe, nothing to do but go for assistance while trying to retain some dignity, which of course isn't possibleThat's the only time it seems to happen though. Common factors usually air travel/jet lag, extreme fatigue and alcohol...

Well, JC still has a nationwide pulpit and hopefully many saw through Key's bullshit last night. That was only one battle...

  • Hard News: The GCSB Bill: We at least…, in reply to Russell Brown,

I think we should take it as given that GCSB has been providing God knows what to NSA for as long as they've had cute little domes at Waihopai. We are a member of Echelon or 5 Eyes or what have you and have been for a long time. Yes, GCSB probably is funded partially/mostly by bottomless NSA funds. I think though much of the reason why this is being pushed through under urgency is really to ensure Washington knows we weren't the hopeless patsies it appears we are and that we're 100% committed to Operation Domination. Our old nuclear ships stance is about 1000th the importance of this issue to the new US machine. At a local level though - it's crook law and needs to be stopped

  • Hard News: The GCSB Bill: We at least…,

Good post Russell. Interestingly, Dunne is the only pro-bill MP I've had a reply from on this issue - he pushed his agenda, but he did get back and it wasn't a form response. Ten years aho every letter would receive a reply, out of common courtesy at least. (Actually, not quite true, after two attempts I had a reply from the Speaker's office re. why GCSB can't be a conscience vote - but that was from an aide so, doesn't count.)
