  • Hard News: A law gone awry,

"Legal Highs" were never about "health" were they? Not even the "mental health" that some contributors to these threads seem to believe eventuate..damage control by associate "health" Minister who should have known better perhaps ..dingbat ..

  • Hard News: A law gone awry,

Uruguay the way to go .."High quality, cheap, legal marijuana" (Reuters) .. especially for "grandad" for whom knowing "authorities" are inclined to advise Prozac etc to cheer the olds up with cancer (cf Ben Wilson) senility etc .. but which quickly increase mortality and do little for pain relief ..or anything else really except increased probability of stroke and related nasty side effects ...

  • Hard News: Illegal Highs,

"have decriminalized methadone, for medical use" and already killed a patient in Whanganui hospital on top of polypharmacy for "pain" (earlier post).

Companies will pay subjects for human trials..who will get paid for participation; sign waivers for risk; get free "highs" as well as free board and lodging and medical tests!

  • Speaker: Why we can’t just fix secondary…,

Found doing joint self-employed British and NZ accounts a nightmare and ended out seeking help in HMRC Reading office .. you should be able to find someone online in Oz..agree they do have heaps of regulations and not accounts friendly. Try doing it yourself with accompanying letter to ATO and let them do the corrections and give advice..much cheaper than accountants - gave them up years ago ..exorbitant ..and this was for things like software devt,, stats., teaching/training, advocacy ..hav as many self employed occupations as you wish and much more profitable. Good luck isogi..I was off on my folding bike exploring between times ..

  • Speaker: Why we can’t just fix secondary…, in reply to Deborah,

One job PAYE other(s) do as invoiced jobs as tradesmen etc do...can get the PAYE back and claim car, office, computer etc expenses IR3 form or all available online..GST registration is worthwhile too is bone fide self employed and that's another 15% claimable (or off-settable)..Keep Good Records...simple Income/Expenditure accounts done by self have sufficed many years..

  • Hard News: Illegal Highs, in reply to Shulgin,

With all due respect Shulgin what are you raving on about? I don't know anyone in the administrative or promotional or academic or pharmaceutical drug business in NZ, as you should have gathered. I have been interested in legal highs since working in the health sector in the UK 2005 onwards with strange ones like Meow causing problems there. Found your first post on different forms of inhaling or smoking one of the Highs (can't recall which one you quoted) really good and well written and it seems all downhill from there. Why?

  • Hard News: A Big Idea, in reply to Craig Ranapia,

True. And we need to stop selling natural assets (land, forests etc) to overseas buyers so income from them, capital gain etc goes the same direction. We haven't learned anything from Rogernomics and selling railways etc to the "investment" banksters like Fay Richwhite. Bad enough with these Australian banks profiting from household debt..we simply pay/lose too much income to overseas "interests" (Telecom, Serco!!) and so rack up domestic debt. All very well telling ordinary folk to save when government is not focused to investing in basic infrastructure assets: houses, small businesses, clean water, affordable health and tertiary education, apprenticeships, etc..but rather on luxury "tourism" and foreign speculative extractive industries ..mining NZ natual assets; gold, gas, sand, oil ......and fish!. Too mcu capital/wealth is being siphoned out of this country and stowed away in unproductive havens.

Sad to say but I suspect that the Govt depts do not know where to go from here. Very tricky situation legally and ethically.
