This is Little Trees Hill, part of the Gog Magog Downs, just south of Cambridge, UK. It's the highest point for a while, which at 74m isn't going to break records. Very flat, East Anglia.
I grew up a stone's throw from here and still like to go up there when I go home (from this home to that), from where I can see my folks' house, Addenbrookes Hospital, the cycle bridge over the railway, Kings College Chapel, Trinity Library. -
I’ve been in Cambridge UK for the past 6 weeks and have been looking at lots of bike stuff, but parking at supermarkets in particular, since the manager of Te Atatu Peninsula Countdown has been entirely resistant to any discussions about improving bike parking there.
This first image is outside the city centre Sainsbury’s. 60 spaces and all taken, all the time (admittedly not solely used by Sainsbury’s customers, but since you can’t drive down the streets surrounding it, everyone will be quaxing in some way).
The second images is outside a large city-fringe Tesco. There’s also a huge car park attached to this.
The third image is outside a large Waitrose in a village just south of Cambridge. its large carpark is full of Remuera tractors, but the bike parking was more extensive than you can see here and well used. -

An excellent post, Jolisa, thank you for putting so eloquently what I feared was happening. I have also seen these things happen in the UK, further dividing a very divided education system. I hope as many people as possible read this and that it informs their choice at the upcoming election.

Yesterday we went for a walk under the Auckland Harbour Bridge (various locations, Northcote end). It’s fairly monochrome anyway but lends itself to a black and white filter. Will you allow me the red??

Lovely sweep of wall and dappled light on the steps, almost reflecting the clouds. So much more striking in black and white.
