JPSE. I was a fan and took this photo at the Gladstone in 1986. They put on a good and colourful show.
I was also friends with them and ended up playing with them for a few gigs and tours, while Dave Yetton was away. Had an amazing fun time and personal JPS experience! Got to see other fav bands, like Straitjacket Fits and Headless Chickens heaps.

  • Hard News: Taking a very big gamble,

It all seems so pointless dismissing PGF so blithely. A waste of money, resources and a huge pool of talented people, whose knowledge and experience will go with them. Fair enough if they had done a review and found fault with the service, then decide to go out and re-tender.
If the winning bid was superior, how come the captain on the radio didn't even know what he had bid for…
I have a personal interest in this, as my wife works for PGF, but felt the same outrage when Novopay happened and the blood testing service was changed. Why change?
PGF are always out there in the community trying to reach people. Going to the prisons, going online to treat gamblers, hosting groups etc. Are the Sallies going to offer such dedication and innovation?

  • Hard News: Holiday Music: Pop TV Lives,

Great stuff from Beefheart and The Magic Band. They're in top form there and playing excellent versions of songs from the poorly recorded Spotlight Kid. The real mothers of invention!

  • Hard News: Karen, and being kind,

Thanks Russell and sorry to hear that. I know from personal experience that it's not easy. I lost my younger sister a few years ago to lung cancer (she never smoked). You have a gift for writing and when I read your story it bought tears to my eyes.

Don't leave home till you've seen the country… We had a fantastic caravan expedition to the Coromandel and East Cape a couple of years ago. This one was taken at Tologa Bay.

Venice is so photogenic. I'm getting itchy feet looking at some of these amazing places I haven't been to.
