TV3's Sunrise and Newsday

  • Graeme Edgeler,

And Throng has the ratings data. They'll be disappointed - Throng points out that City Impact Church that screens before it rated almost as well - a 13.1 share compared to the 13.2 of Sunrise.

Speaking of ratings, 'though, I just got a TVNZ "Planit" email - with this link to the top 10 rating shows of the week. 3 News is on it, One News is not. Is there some weird "we're not going to put our news and current affairs shows on the list"-thing going on, or has TV One tanked?

  • johnno,

There has never been a day since TV3 started broadcasting that their early evening news bulletin has had more viewers than TV One.

Those four tables are all narrowed down to certain demographic groups. The top one is people aged 25 to 54, then 18 to 39, then 18 to 49, and the bottom one is households with children aged 0 to 14.

If you looked at the total viewership figures (5 years old +) One News would be out-rating 3 News.

  • Jackie Clark,

I quite enjoyed Sunrise - but then, James Coleman could spray fizzy drink out his nose, and I would love him to bits. I liked the Sports guy too, very funny. I was wondering if the set wasn't too bare, though.

  • InternationalObserver,

I've watched it twice in a row and both time's I thought "Gee someone's given Triangle TV a major budget boost" before realising I was watching TV3. It really is quite a lo-fi approach. Anyone passing the TVNZ monolith must be wondering what all that giggling is about.
And yes Jackie, James Colman is quite ... interesting (and I'm sooo not gay!!). How does he keep up that constant smile at that hour of the morning?
