  • Kevin McCready,

    "Lawyerworld is a strange place."
Especially Graeme's. This article unfortunately is a mishmash and needs rewriting, not only for the update but also for the categorical statement of Brownlee's innocence. As has already been pointed out, knocking? on a door and going through when it's opened, is not the same being given permission.

and worse, it turns out the door was merely unlocked, not even opened for him.

Locked doors or not, the words I heard he was knocking on it. But that is not the real issue, as it was part of the departure lounge he received an infringement notice for being in a normal passenger area. This is the nonsense part, as infringements are more for tarmac or off limits areas. His intent was to bypass security so he should be facing court on that issue alone. But that would end his political career.

  • Rich of Observationz,

Apparently the report has been released, Stuff and Labour have seen it, but it isn't up on the CAA website or Scoop.

From what I can gather, Brownlee got the staff to open the Koru Club exit door and breezed past them before they could tell him to stop.

    Entranced...

Stuff and Labour have seen it, but it isn’t up on the CAA website or Scoop.

Stuff has more details here though it seems to have got lost again as other more important news comes to light - like a mid air brawl over a crying baby!
    sigh....
(unless of course that crying baby was in fact Gerry Brownlee)

Gerry Brownlee walked past a Christchurch International Airport company employee before the man could tell him he had to go through security, a Civil Aviation Authority report shows.
The CAA has finally produced a heavily redacted report...
The report throws into dispute whether Brownlee and two of his staff were given consent to bypass security.
Since the day of the event Brownlee has said he knocked on a security door and asked if he could come through, claiming he was told "okay".
But the report shows that the unnamed airport employee intended to tell Brownlee to go the correct way through security, but was unable to.

I'm sure the Minister of Defence will have a brilliant defence against this slur on his impeccable character...
(Even though he admits his brain was fading - he'll be sure of his actions, for sure for sure....)
