  • merc,

The Major speaks to me in genius tongue. I am going to Connecticut, to seek him out, to the heart of darkness, as it were, up the river, I hear he has people there who worship him to the loose strains of The End, beautiful friend.
Like a snail on a razor blade the beautiful simplicity of His words and deeds must be captured, with extreme prejudice.
Surfer kid: Why did you napalm the whole village?
Col. Kilgore: Because Charlie don't fucken surf.
Me, I'm grounded as I ever was, I'm going all the way, for the Palm Oil.

  • Russell Brown,

But of much more interest, where exactly in Auckland can we get some of these wonderful sounding cheeses? (apologies if I missed any previous advice on the matter during this thread, I kind of got side-tracked by Robin's sterling efforts).

I discovered that Dida's in Jervois Rd stock the Canterbury Cheesemongers range, and went in and bought the last tiny wedge of the Shropshire Blue on Saturday (which was actually a tiny bit ripe for my tastes, but still very nice). So no more of that till they restock from the motherland, but there are quite a few others to choose from.

You can also buy Blackball salami and pepperoni by the gram, and it's much nicer than it is in the shrinkwrap. I also like the way Dida's has customer parking around the corner. Fairly taxing on the wallet though ...

Cheers - Dida's here we come.

  • Joanna,

Now that some people have got their gravatars working, and I appreciate that this probably isn't the right thread to put it in, but I couldn't find a better one, what are the chances of getting a "last posts" system going whereby if you click on a user's name you can see the last posts they've made? It'd be tremendously helpful for judging someone's character, and also for people who may have a tendency to write stuff on the interweb whilst drunk that they don't recall in the morning...

  • andrew llewellyn,

So... you want to be able to see YOUR last post in a twinkling, so that you can be the judge of your own character?

Yup, I am constantly judging myself. Don't you read Hubris? Heh.

I'd like that! It's somewhat torturous seeing "Posts: 103" next to someone's name, but not being able to check out exactly what those 103 posts are.

I was pleased to read Russell's column in the latest Listener on our oily pal from Connecticut.

  • Robin Draper,

Merc..Oh Merc! I don't know what to make of your rant. Anyone know a cryptographer..someone who can decipher the code behind Merc's word..It gives me the creeps!

And dear Robyn G. Don't scrunch your panties too much over Russell's column. At best, it's the work of a born cynic...someone who'd constantly see snakes in every bush. At worst, all the whiskies that'd he'd imbibed over the years is influencing his writings!
