  • Eddie Clark,

Can we even afford to sit in a park?

What, is Bill instituting meters for public benches or something?

I would have thought freezing to death would be a bigger risk if we're sitting in Waitangi park in June, though.

  • Hilary Stace,

The park will probably be privatised.

  • Sam F,

The park will probably be privatised.

No, the park will remain in public hands. Rather, it will also benefit from private management by Westfield Shoppingtowns Limited, known for cost-effective delivery of great community spaces.

  • JackElder,

If it's austerity, then surely it's more likely to be fish and chip?

  • Brent Jackson,

Great night ! Thoroughly enjoyed it.

It is so good to be able to celebrate geekery (or is that geekness ?).

Really enjoyed the Ignite presentations. Can we please have a final list of the titles and presenters so we can better remember them (perhaps links would be good too - for those who didn't have a notepad handy - of course a true geek should have no difficulty remember a dozen web addresses...).

    Cheers,
    Brent.

  • Brent Jackson,

Of course I'm not happy with your Monteith's sponsorship, since I'm currently boycotting DB beers for their trademarking of radler, and the stupid things their Marketing Manager, Clare Morgan, said over the issue:

"Our consumers remain as passionate about our brands as we do," she said. "We believe they are capable of making their own decisions about what they do and don't buy."

Too right we do - and my decision is to stop buying DB beers in my attempt to penalise them for their arrogance...

  • Steve Barnes,

    We blended well tonight.
And yes Brent, I agree with you on the DB thing, which is why, after much research, I adopted Kingsland's mac's bar as my "alternative living room" (last night's Back Benchers bash was exellunt)
I got a feeling tonight at "The Blend"
That this was the beginning of a new hangover.

  • Jackie Clark,

Well, well, well. Thanks Russell for another excuse to look all brainy by association. The Ignite sessions were a fantastic idea - thanks, Nat - and I have to say that my favourite was the neuroscientist. Velly Interesting. I would love to know more. As for the rest, Emma did beautifully on the quiz, Keith was surprisingly ungeeky, really - I had no idea what any of them were talking about, but that's par for the course, with you lot. It was a real pleasure meeting Sacha and Emma, great to see Alastair (sp?) and it's always lovely to see Messrs Slack and Brown. Convivial ain't the word.

Thanks everyone -- it was a fabulous evening. And, in the end, rather a late one.

I'm giving myself the day off.

A liquid lunch? Hell, have an early weekend.
In other hangover news. My neighbours have started their extension construction today. I was woken at 7 by the delivery of a CAT 305c digger which is, as I write, tearing up the driveway not 5 mtrs from my throbbing head. Every time it dumps huge chunks of concrete into the precariously parked 10 ton truck my house shakes, causing my brain to knock gently against the inside of my skull, bliss.

  • Alan Perrott,

I'd have never anticipated how frustrating it could be to watch two teams utterly fail to recognise Thunderbird 2.

nice price on the beer but...pity I had to bail so fast.
