  • Steve Parks, in reply to Geoff Lealand,

If this sodding government (in cahoots with TVNZ) gets its way we will be in the unique (but hardly enviable) position of being the only Western nation without a broadly available, public broadcasting service.

Sorry Geoff, earthquake don't cha know. Can't afford.

  • Steve Parks,

...I'm starting to suspect this will be National's answer to any questions about spending cuts etc.

  • Steve Parks, in reply to recordari,

Caught some of the Good Word debate on the New Zealand Novel over weekend. They do intelligence good, them lot, eh?

eh indeed. I’ve seen two of those debates now, that one and the one about (paper) books being redundant or somesuch.

Steve Braunias was excellent both times in his rhetoric, although suffered from being on the obviously losing side this time. He brilliantly tore apart an opposing argument – but unfortunately that opposing argument was, as Findlay McDonald pointed out, made by a straw man.

  • Steve Parks,

Ta, I hadn’t even gotten around to reading that blog yet, Sacha. But yep, that article Keith refers to on stuff about the quake slamming the budget is exactly what I had in mind.

  • Russell Brown,

Just a note that Media7 is a goodie tonight.

Garth talks about Japan, there there's CSI: Auckland (which you really have to see) and our very articulate panel.

    9.05pm, TVNZ 7.

what, you mean like watch it on telly at the time of broadcast instead of catching up later on-demand? pfffft weird ;p

The CSI effect would have been better without the prolonged attempt at humour.

    Moar does not mean betterer.

  • Brenda Leeuwenberg, in reply to Jan Farr,

I was thinking that I could go onto NZ on Air and transmit programmes from my computer to my tv. The only problem is I don't know how. Can anyone help?

If you mean NZ On Screen then you can view programmes from the website on your TV by connecting them via a cable. Or as of next week via an AppleTV using Airplay (yes Russell, we've fixed it).

If you mean TVNZ OnDemand then it's the same (not sure about airplay though) but you can essentially use the TV as a screen. Not really about transmitting in this case.

Or I've missed the point entirely - which does happen :)

Oh don't be such an old fart. It was awesome and funny :)

If they'd just done the credits, maybe, or used it as a link...

Too often people who write 'comedy' go for 5 minutes when 2 would have been enough. The idea was good and god knows Caruso is eminently mockable, but I was more interested in the actual meat of the piece than the performance.

    Effing awesome!

There's a treat for those people who get their iPad 2s today.

I fear you are in the minority on this one. Sarah seems to have a whole lot of new fans out there now.

It was two and a half minutes long.

  • nzlemming, in reply to Jose Barbosa,

It felt a lot longer, and I like Sarah’s work – used to do theatre with her in Wellington. But I didn’t like this. Tough.

And you, sir, I fear should stick to your day job.

Wouldn't be the first time, and doesn't mean I'm wrong, either.

Well, no shock horror here on that. If one hadn't seen her act before, one was probably pleasantly surprised. I have and wasn't.

Mark, of course you can have an opinion. But you're verging a bit on being rude here.

Fair point. I apologise to Jose. It was meant a little tongue in cheek but that was not obvious.

  • recordari,

FWIW, the CSI specious was perfect slap-shtick to highlight the point made later by the real CSI. It also encompassed all the things I like about watching CSI (only the original) and Bones. Smarts and tarts.

    Did I just say that?

  • Jacqui Dunn,

I'm putting this here, because....well, because I can't find anywhere else that seems at all apt.

Tame Iti? Really? Activism by prancing around a stage - never heard of it. Good on him for redefining terrorism but.

  • Clint Fern,

Loved Emily Perkins talking to Cameron Slater on the Good Word tonight. Talking about a series of books on Genghis Khan -

Slater - Genghis wasn't really practising genocide
Perkins - More family first really
    Slater - Thats right

Poetry. Or a punch in the guts for McCoskrie.
