  • Christopher Dempsey,

Ta - I usually read posts under the 'system' page presentation, not the original home page presentation...

  • Craig Ranapia,

Even though I have a bit of a problem with the Blog category in the Qantas Media Awards, I won't be indulging the protest awards being staged by the so-called New Zealand Bloggers Union. I just don't like the way they've gone about it, and the way they've behaved towards my friend Ben Gracewood.

Indeed -- there may have been a serious and worthwhile point in there, but it was quickly killed by a lethal strain of brain-eating virus.

Or click the little envelope under my name, just to the left there.

But sadly, you were too late anyway, Christopher ...

But you can fill in a criticism of that in the little box! And they'll even thank you for it!

The NZBU represents all New Zealand bloggers, didn't you know? And you're a member! Its some VSM thing.

  • Danyl Mclauchlan,

I've seen the stats for the fairfax blogs - some of them get more visitors than any blogger in the country except DPF. So while its true that they're unknown by most of the blogosphere they're certainly 'top bloggers' in terms of audience size.

  • Deborah,

@Raymond - I suspect a lot of them are fakes, but some of them are very funny all the same.

That makes sense, if the numbers and diversity of comments are anything to go by.

2010 NetGuide People's Choice Web Awards

Good grief. What a COMPLETELY uninspiring, totally boring and bizarre combination of way-too-obvious and WTF-did-they-choose-that-for??? selections that we-the-people have been given to choose from.

I know we are free to add our own choice and vote for it, but realistically the winners are most likely to come from the pre-listed selections, aren't they? And what crappy pre-selections they are.

Looks like the organisers of the People's Choice Awards gave themselves a full 5 minutes of uninterrupted deep thought and concentrated research to come up with that list. Pah!

  • Brenda Leeuwenberg,

It has to be said, if you thought watching Pukemanu on NZ On Screen was a fine thing to do this weekend (and indeed it should be), then sit back and enjoy this fine selection of 50 years of Kiwi TV Gold released on NZ On Screen this afternoon:
    http://www.nzonscreen.com/collection/kiwi-tv-classics

There's a lot of 'where we came from' moments in there, but I have to say my personal fav is the weather segment in the "Reading the News" compilation: http://www.nzonscreen.com/title/reading-the-news-1966

    Enjoy!

  • Steve Barnes,

Bob McCoskrie's Family First site is in the 'suggested' options for 'Best Family Site'?

I shudder to think what may be suggested for "Best Farming Site" Steve Crow's www.farmfun.co.nz ?.
To be fair, it does have the word "Family" in it so it must be a force for good... eh?.

An added reason to take the time and watch Pukemanu -the passing of Dame Pat Evison on the weekend.

LATE was great (thanks Russell for the late tickets and thanks to whomever couldn't use them!).

Little known fact: the highest rating telly show in Sweden for the last few years or so is the Donald Duck Christmas Special Show. Who knew?

I enjoyed the discussion which boiled down to academic give the public something good versus private capitalist give the public what they want. Great lines and great discussion.

Not me, until Eric mentioned it at the Heartland launch on Tuesday night.

But it's not "the last few years". It's every Christmas Eve since 1959.
