  • Craig Ranapia,

Sorry for stinking up the room with seriousness, but I'd be more generous than you about last night's Media7. It really got as close to the tonal bullseye as anyone could be reasonably expected to get Lighten up on yourself and take the compliment..

  • Sarah Wedde,

I thought you did a great job getting the tone right. Quietly moving and informative.

  • Gareth Davidson,

Did anyone else notice this this week? Is it too soon?

  • Mark Cubey,

Charlie Sheen got over 1 million Twitter followers in 24 hours. And now he's on the Duck Sauce.

  • Mark Cubey,

And man, I'm looking forward to this.

Charlie Sheen got over 1 million Twitter followers in 24 hours.

I was one of them for about five minutes, until I asked myself this question: "Is passively enabling a mentally-unstable drug addict with a history of domestic violence really on your bucket list?" the computer said no.

At least fellow Mel Gibson wannabe John Galliano has the decency (or very good legal advice) to STFU and get his tragic, trashy arse into rehab. (At least, I hope the media reports he has are true.)

  • Greg Dawson, in reply to Gareth Davidson,

Would have thought an influx of superheroes would be welcome.
But yes I'm thinking same problems with lack of accommodation that is preventing other events.

  • Josh Addison,

Word is that Charlie Sheen's Twitter account isn't written by him. Either way, I prefer to follow Old Spice for my hyper-masculine rambling.

  • Kebabette,

Kia ora Russell, I watched most of Media 7 this morning and was impressed. Not merely the same words & images being regurgitated.

Last time, I was all over the Twitter, taking photos, etc. This time - not so much. Bunkered down in the burbs, working at EOC.

As a city dweller & worker like many of my friends we are enjoying the kindness of friends & whanau. Seems like most people I know are at mother's or in-law's places. Thanks Mums (& Dads)

We are all fighting for our small victories. Seeing friends I haven't seen since quake is like a lungful of good air. And 2 year old who is a toughass.

I saw Tim O’Brien in Wellington on Sunday, a very good show. The guy also plays a mean banjo, (he did not play Hey Joe however)

Top-notch Media 7 last night, Russell. Hoping to bring a bunch of grad students up for a taping soon.

But what is this talk I hear of TVNZ7 facing the end (as in John Drinnan this morning)??

As things stand, it's true. I'll try and write about it for Monday.

  • Andre,

Please feel free to join us at 10am tomorrow on Grafton Bridge protesting against Executions of political prisoners in Iran. They arrested 200 more on Tuesday (and 1500 on February 14th) and are charging many with sedition – punishable by execution. 117 political prisoners are already on death row, many sentenced to die by stoning. We’ll be attempting to form a human chain across the bridge as part of a worldwide protest taking place in ten cities. I hope you can come along. http://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/AK1103/S00116/worldwide-event-stop-executions-in-iran.htm

And to lower the tone of this entire thread, CR, did you spot Michael Socha's comments about Russell Tovey's impressive attributes (...) in the Feb 2011 UK Gay Times...?

The way things are going, I have this unsettling feeling that TVNZ hasn't learnt from Henrygate and Darkiegate, and it's probably going to happen again.

    that article from Drinnan

    Hmmm

Asked yesterday why TVNZ remained in public ownership with no social obligations, Broadcasting Minister Jonathan Coleman said it had a valuable role in returning profits to the Government.

Wonder how he feels about state-owned electricity operators?

But political insiders said Coleman had been unable to convince pivotal figures in the Cabinet, including Communications Minister Steven Joyce, to find a way to save the channel.

I'm sure he fought real hard for it </sarc>

  • Lilith __,

Brilliant Media 7 episode: intelligent, sensitive, gripping. Big ups to all those involved.

And if TVNZ7 is on the way out, what a LOSS!

Feijoas-wow mine aren't anywhere near ready. Mind you I'm still picking some rather sweet strawberries and the figs are starting to ripen.
